10 Years Shaved Off…Poof!

13 Reasons Why 10 Years Has Been Shaved Off From My Lifespan

1) I totally wig out when Dadisodes leaves.

2) I have an unhealthy addiction to homicide shows.

3) After watching a creepy homicide show while Dadisodes is out of town (yes, I’m that stupid), I lie in bed WIDE-awake.

4) At 10:45pm the doorbell rings!!!

5) I crap my pants as the doorbell rings again with LOUD knocking, my dog begins barking viciously at the door. I stand frozen in my bedroom in the dark with 2 telephones in my hands.

6) Through the hallway, I see a flashlight shine through one of my windows.

7) In a panic, I start dialing Dadisodes cell number in one hand, and 911 in the other.

8 ) Dadisodes answers and I begin screaming obscenities in a whisper. He tells me not to answer the door.

9) I peek out the window and see a police car and an officer going door-to-door speaking to homeowners.

10) I walk outside with 2 telephones still in hand trembling. The officer informs me that one of the homes nearby was broken into.

11) I return to bed alone fah-reaking out all. night. long.

12) The next day, I return home from errands to find my attic door wide open (no one was home). I crap my pants again, grab Babisodes, and take her to the airport to pick up Dadisodes 3 HOURS EARLY!

13) A side note: Dadisodes insisted that he bring Babisodes something back from his trip. I tell him, “Get her anything you want. A magnet. A t-shirt. I don’t care. Just make sure it’s not a stuffed animal (she has enough to donate 1 for every child in China).

RoadRunner
“Surprise honey! Look what I got you on my trip!”

*Le sigh*

(p.s. I still have no idea how or why the attic door was opened. We’re getting an alarm system, 100 deadbolts, and a pack of wolves… like yesterday.)

That’s pretty scary! And I’m talking about the burglars, the attic door AND that odd stuffed animal.

    What IS that thing??

I think I would deadbolt the attic door and the cellar door. That is freaky. I am thinking back to when I was a stupid teenager and middle schooler watching horror movies and how much I hated them, but everyone else was watching them. I am now grown up enough to admit that I am scared like a child at horror stuff.

    Kathryn- I know I did.

Beth- Haha! That’s what I said when I saw it :) It’s a “Road Runner”. To our dismay, his taste in stuffed animals? Much like his taste in jewelry :(

Angie- Couldn’t agree more. I’m so paranoid now, I want sirens and blinding lights if anything is opened that isn’t supposed to be.

  5. MelindaNo Gravatar

Yikes! That must have been pretty dang scary.

BTW–I have an unhealthy addiction to those shows too; definitely contributes to the paranoia.

You go girlfriend with the security system, I need one too. I think you might want to reconsider the wolves, I heard they become quite vicious to weird looking stuffed animals : )

I totally would have freaked out about the knocking and flashlights. As for the attic door, however, assuming it’s inside your house and not outside, I would imagine that you might do better with an exorcist than a giant guard dog on that score. ;) I hope you sleep better with Dadisodes home tonight!

    OH.

    MY.

    GAWD!!!!

i would have gone to the airport last night!! geez.

that sucks. and the attic door being open would freak me out on so many levels… the burgler that could have been or the *spiritual things* you have noticed… UGH!! i’m not whimpy… but that would have me under my blankets cowering like a little girl! lol serious though.

you are a brave women!! i love that you had two phones… what a smart thing!! one for hubby and one for 911. have to remember that.

i hope that they catch the perp… so your neighborhood can sleep at night.

i’m glad that Dadisodes is home tonight!! :) try to get a good nights sleep.

  30. MomisodesNo Gravatar

Melinda- I know. Those shows really are no help are they.

MommyTime- Yep, the door is on the inside. Trust me, you’re not the first one to suggest the exorcist.

Jennifer- I hope they catch the perp too. And seriously, I had no idea you had any typos or errors. I’m so oblivious to those things. Can’t you tell by my writing? :)

Heather- I’ve only been able to catch a few episodes of Law and Order. I have to admit, they were pretty darn good :)

Christine- ROFL!!! If that’s the case, that’s awesome!

Abunslife- Dude, I’m not sure about the ghosts. I’d like to think they’ve not here, but…

    Jen- Girl, I SO did.

Skiplovey- I would have, but I didn’t want to wake her and have her start wailing in the midst of the madness.

Amy- Forks! Seriously? I’m not sure I’d trust myself wielding such a tool. I can barely manage them on steak.

Solomon- ROFL!!!!!! Oh man, you’re terrible :)

lceel- I know. Perhaps I could finagle a bedroom in their house for situations like this :)

Karen of Sillymonkeez- The kid and dog would definitely not be able to open the door. I can hardly get it open. Plus, it was upstairs, and neither were up there :( Our dog is great. He has a great bark and he’s about medium size. Without him, I would have been halfway down to Florida by morning in my car!

Lisa- Ya, I was definitely doing plenty of it.

Joyce-Anne- Thanks, I definitely think it’s a right thing to do right now. Or at least the only way I’ll be sleeping at night from now on.

Laura- I don’t know why I do it. I get freaked out watching them when he IS here. I’m a lunatic for doing it while he’s gone.

Alice- They were going door to door to see if anyone had seen anything happen or saw someone.

Angela- Yea, I didn’t sleep all night. I had toothpicks perching my eyelids open.

elaine- Hahah! It’s a road runner. I have no idea what possessed him to buy it. :)

jen of a2eatwrite- AMEN! Me too :)

CC- Oh no. That is crazy! I would have fah-reaked!

tracey- Looks like all is fine and nothing is missing…just my sanity at this point.

Linda- That face is hilarious! I hope it was that too, but I can’t imagine how it would happen :( Yea, I have a ton of laundry to do now.

Crystal- You have a baseball bat too? I seriously need to look into this option.

  31. ClaraNo Gravatar

I’m into the crime shows, too. AND I listen to crime fiction or fact audiobooks. I’m not usually kept awake by them. But the police at the door and flashlights in the window…. That would have done me in, too. Glad Dadisodes is home now so you can relax a little. Go for the alarm system! I sure would.

  32. HappyCampersNo Gravatar

Oh, if I were you…I would have left for a hotel for the night with baby! My husband traveled for work every week & I always was terrified of everything at night. Especially after we had a baby. I was up so late most nights just *listening*

Storyteller- I’m relieved too. LOL! I’m betting the stuffed animal should stay away from my dog as well!

Jessi- I’m starting to think I don’t want to live without one either.

Ooooh scary. I’d have freaked out too! I always get so freaked out really easily when Steven leaves for long periods of time. He was gone for 6 months once! I refused to come home after dark – and, when I got home, I had to look in every possible imaginable place. Guess KNOWING they were there would have made me felt better than WONDERING…

Ashley- 6 months? Yikes! I’m so sorry you had to endure that. I would have been the same way about checking around every place possible.

Maggie’s Mind- I know. You guys were so awesome on Plurk. Thanks so much for the support. I tried Plurking my way through the night that night.

Let me second Solomon’s recommendation for Rescue Remedy. I have a cousin who has used it for years. Good stuff! I’ve never needed it personally, but then I don’t watch really scary stuff, either. I am addicted to homicide shows, too, but try to stay away from any that would interrupt my sleep. Remember, my honey traveled for 3 weeks at a time and then was home for only a couple days before heading out again. I think a whole pack of wolves might be overkill, but one or two would probably make you feel more secure.
