A stitch in time just wastes it

Is it just me or is this the longest week ever?

As I write this, it is still only Tuesday. TUESDAY.

Okay, so maybe it is just me.

Perhaps it may have something to do with the fact that I am on lock down upstairs. Alone.

Babisodes is spiking a fever so she is spending quality time with Dadisodes while I count the tiny cracks on the ceiling of my bedroom.

It is very sweet of him to take time away from work and take over the reigns so the fetus and I are not exposed to germs, but I’m losing my marbles. I feel awful hearing Babisodes’ congested voice downstairs and not being able to take care of her.

Not to mention, this week is when I finally have my level 2 ultrasound. This means my doctor will be checking for fetal growth and signs of abnormalities, as well as determining the long awaited sex of the baby.

In the meantime, I am doing my best to pass the time while I’m in the hole. I haven’t lost it enough to sign up for NaBloPoMo or NaNoWriMo again just yet (have you?), but I have been reading blogs, scouring Craigslist for crap I don’t need, and crocheting a bazillion small projects.

I rarely crochet.

In fact, I honestly have no idea how to do it properly and the last time I tried was over 5 years ago.

Nonetheless, I now have enough kitchen towels and beanie hats for everyone in the neighborhood.

I also just completed a multicolored, unisex newborn hat.

Simply because I could not wait the extra few days to make a solid pink or blue one.

Maybe next time.

I love the hat! Pretty good for not crocheting for 5 years!

And I hope Babisodes is well soon. It must be hard not to comfort her!

  10. Amy @ The Q FamilyNo Gravatar

    Wow! I’m impressed! You have multi-talents! :)

Hang in there. I know it must be hard not to be able to take care of Babisode while she is sick. But it’s probably for the best.

    The hat is so cute!!

  11. AliciaNo Gravatar

Oh my gosh, that beanie is soooo cute! I love it!!

I can imagine how hard it is to be on lockdown…and upstairs at tha

  12. mommy-momoNo Gravatar

  13. Tiaras & TantrumsNo Gravatar

oh – man – that was me last week – in the thick of sickness – cute hat

  14. BrendaNo Gravatar

Once I get started on the crochet I tend to get out out of control as well.

    Hope you feel better

  15. AmyNo Gravatar

No, its not just you. Yesterday I thought it should be Friday. I am so sorry Babisodes is sick! That is possibly the worst thing in the world; having a sick child and not being able to care for them. Good luck with that, and I love the hat. Also, I can’t wait to find out what the sex of your baby is! I can’t believe it is time for that appointment already! I am sure it has dragged for you, but really, it has flown by for me. I hope the rest flies by for you, and good luck at your appointment!

  16. Honey MommyNo Gravatar

You did a great job! I haven’t crocheted in a while… I really should get back to it, but then I would have to blog less!

  17. JacNo Gravatar

Crochet is my sanity saver of choice this week as well! (I’m actually teaching myself right now, with the help of youtube videos!) I’m hoping to finish my scarf sometime this millennium!

I love your baby hat!! I remember all the countless uni-sex projects I did! (We waited until Wuzzle was born to learn her sex!)

I’m sorry to hear that Babisodes is sick, but hopefully the rest of your week goes quickly!

  18. dysfunctional momNo Gravatar

Dang you crafty women, making me look bad! That thing is SO cute.

  19. bluevioletNo Gravatar

I’m glad you’re hiding out with the baby trying to stay well and that is a cute, cute hat!

  20. AsianmommyNo Gravatar

    Aww…I love your little hat!!

  21. shellyNo Gravatar

I hope your little one feels better soon! That’s a cute hat! Wish I had that kind of talent.

  22. louannNo Gravatar

I gotta agree, the days are dragging by! I hope babysodes feels better the soonest.
    And I love that hat!

  23. EmilyNo Gravatar

Sheesh, that is pretty impressive! I am so not that talented. I hope Babisodes feels better soon and that you and baby stay healthy on all fronts. I can see why this week feels long…waiting for my US was always the longest week for me too!!

  24. DotNo Gravatar

For somebody who doesn’t know if she’s doing it right, you did an awesome job on that hat! Poor Babisodes, it sucks when the littles get sick.

  25. ceemeeNo Gravatar

Ooh! What an adorable hat! I hope Babisodes got one too? I hope she gets well soon! That’s so sweet of Dadisodes.

  26. killlashandraNo Gravatar

Oh no, I totally agree with this being the longest week ever. I sat on the train this morning and had the same though, why isn’t it Thursday already…

Cute hat! Sometimes I wish I could knit, then I go, like I have the time.

Sorry to hear about the fever though, seems to be going around. My 4 month old had a little one a couple days ago. But I chalk it up to teething. ;)

  27. Susie's HomemadeNo Gravatar

Great hat!! I wish I could knit but alas, it is one thing I lack patience in:-)

  28. JaniceNo Gravatar

Time seems to be speeding up for me. I can’t believe it’s late October! I hope your little one is soon better. And for someone who ‘can’t really’ crochet that hat looks pretty good to me!

  29. Michelle @ one crafty mamaNo Gravatar

That hat is absolutely precious. I hope the little gets better soon so you can come out of hiding and good luck with the ultrasound.

  30. Secret Mom ThoughtsNo Gravatar

Hope your lockdown ends soon. The hat is adorable.

  31. The MotherNo Gravatar

    Crosswords. Lots of crosswords.

    Sudoku, too.

    And Bejeweled, on the iPhone.

    Guaranteed time wasters.

  32. perpstuNo Gravatar

Cute hat! I hope you’re out of quarantine soon. Yes, my marbles have fallen out somewhere along the way. I am doing both NaBloPoMo AND NaNoWriMo. God help me!

  33. RoseNo Gravatar

I could never get the hang of crouching. Cute hat.

  34. Jannie FunsterNo Gravatar

    It’s Wednesday!!!

how’s life in the hole today??

Will eagerly await baby news, as everyone else.

SWEEEET sweet hat, Sandy! You are a girl of many talents, that’s for sure.

    xo

  35. Kelli @ writing the wavesNo Gravatar

Love the hat! So sorry that you are cooped up and that your little one is sick. I’ve been thinking about signing up for NaNoWriMo too. So you’ve done it before? I’m a little intimidated by the whole idea. :P

  36. Coal Miner's GranddaughterNo Gravatar

Beautiful hat, hon! Hope Babisodes gets well soon and you can experience sweet freedom!

  37. savvy galNo Gravatar

you so need to make sure you don’t catch anything. daddisode is a good sport.

  38. Tara R.No Gravatar

That’s a darlin’ hat. Your new baby will be stylin’ in that toque.

I have a little extra time on my hands, I should take up crocheting again too.

  39. Rachel @ Grasping for ObjectivityNo Gravatar

Oh I can’t wait to find out what you’re having!! Hope Babisodes feels better soon.

And I’m quite impressed with your crocheting…I’d have a pile of yarn.

  40. FrancescaNo Gravatar

Your crocheting talent seriously blows my mind. I think the last time I attempted something like that I was 8 and it involved cross-stitching.

You managed to make something incredibly special!

    -Francesca

  41. skiploveyNo Gravatar

Awww hope Babisodes is feeling better. You stay upstairs and don’t get sick!
I know, longest week ever. We find out what we’re having next week! I’m so excited although hopefully Nate will be happy with whatever we find out, even if it isn’t the baby sister he keeps asking for. 6 1/2 days to go!

You must post immediately as soon as you find out!!

  42. Holly at Tropic of MomNo Gravatar

Wow, your hat is beautiful. I can’t do that kind of thing — I’m all thumbs. You are so multitalented!

The hardest must be not being able to take care of Babisodes. But I hope the sickness blows over soon and your whole family will be well.

  43. HeatherNo Gravatar

I have never crocheted, but I think I’d love it if I took the time to sit down and teach myself ;)

I need a new hobby right now, like I need a hole in my head. Perhaps AFTER the wedding?

I hope Babisodes is feeling much better!

  44. sheilaNo Gravatar

Yes, what a great dad indeed! If more were like that the world would only be in half as much of a mess than it is now, lol. (seriously)

Cute hat! But it sucks that you’re stuck like that. Kids bring home sooo many things. Isn’t it amazing? Hope babysodes feels better fast and that the germs don’t spread to anyone else.

    I’ll be thinkin of ya!

  45. CarrieNo Gravatar

Mine have been illin too. I hate, hate, hate it when the kids are sick. Love the hat. Can’t wait to find out what you are having…

  46. CaraNo Gravatar

Love the hat! Some unisex stuff is good. You probably had much of the same, but EVERYTHING we had for our daughter was pink. There was no getting away from it. So some yellow and green would be a nice switch.

I’ve always wanted to learn crochet. I have a “start projects and don’t finish them” problem, though. I have a half dozen half knitted scarfs floating around the house. Maybe not best for me to embark on another one.

  47. Joyce-AnneNo Gravatar

What a cute baby hat! I hope you stay healthy and that Dadisodes doesn’t get sick either. Meanwhile, I really hope Babisodes feels better soon.

  48. Mama in SuburbiaNo Gravatar

Awwww, hope Babisodes feels better soon. As for crocheting, you’re really good. That’s a cute hat. I started crocheting a baby blanket when I was pregnant with Lil T…mind you, he’s 2 1/2 and it’s still not complete. Good luck with the ultrasound!

  49. Laura @ 29 and CountingNo Gravatar

Hope your scan goes well at the dr.’s this week and that you’re little girl recovers quickly and you avoid any of the sickies.

  50. sophiaNo Gravatar

I think that unisex, multi-colored hat looks better than plain pink or blue! It’s beautiful! Please stay healthy, and take a good rest!

  51. KatNo Gravatar

That hat is adorable! Great job!
I can’t wait to hear the sex of the baby. So exciting!!!!
Hang in there. Take advantage of the rest while you can. ;)

  52. NicoleNo Gravatar

    That hat’s cute :) !
And I sure hope Babysodes will be fine soon!
Now, what did the ultrasound say????

  53. CookieNo Gravatar

HOpe babisodes is better soon. The hat is cute. I never learned anything like that and i’m always jealous of those who can make things!

  54. karen @ if i could escapeNo Gravatar

How adorable!!! Hope the little one is well soon!

  55. JennersNo Gravatar

Well, enjoy your “house arrest” as much as possible. once the baby arrives, you’ll be dreaming of this time!

  56. SarahNo Gravatar

The hat is super cute! I know how to crochet, but so rarely do it. I usually knit instead *G*

So sorry you’re on lockdown! You must be stir-crazy!! Ugh. But…what’s the word ont he u/s?!?! Dying to hear!

  57. MelissaNo Gravatar

Time passes so slowly when you’re pregnant! I crocheted a lot during the last 2 months :)
