…and to one a good-night

‘Twas two nights after Christmas, when all through the house

A creature was stirring, probably a mouse;

Half nibbled bread was placed atop the refrigerator with care,

In hopes that a small rodent would soon be there;

The child was nestled all snug in her bed,

While visions of Angelina Ballerina danced in her head;

And papa in his PJ’s, with me on his lap,

Had just settled down in the living room to hear a long awaited ‘Snap!’

When out from the kitchen there arose such a clatter, Dadisodes sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.

Away to the second floor I flew like a flash,

Tore open the bedroom door and slammed it behind with a bash.

The moon on the breast of the week old-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of somberness to the world outside the window below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a heroic Dadisodes carrying a dead mouse to the trashcan without fear.

    Well done!

    And well done, Dadisodes! I caught a mouse once. Actually the cat caught it and brought it to me. A prize. It was still alive. I threw it out the back door instead of flushing it or worse. Except I threw it a little too hard. I should have just let the cat take care of it.

    have you ever gotten a finger in there? Man it hurts. I think you’re supposed to use a little less bread as bait, but obviously that worked ;)

    Seriously, I’m a dude, and dead mice are nasty. Good on Dadisodes, I’d be carrying that sick stuff out too.

  15. SharonNo Gravatar

    Seriously! Did you whip up that poem in no time?!? Okay – question for you. When I was living with my dad in the country for several months he would REUSE the mousetraps. Dispose of the rodent and then reload with food. Tell me, does Daddisodes do that too? Or is it a country thing?!? Mortifying…..

    Glad to see Dadisodes is up to the challenges presented in life. Good to see you’re up to your usual standards. I apologize for being ‘absent’ for so long … I spend minimal time at the computer these days but I do think of you often and (when I open my reader occasionally) I enjoy catching up a bit.

    Oh no! Mice in the house suck (even the ones in the cage). Last night I was watching PBS and the scientist referred to this certain type of mouse as “the snickers” of the desert because everyone wants to eat him. I thought that was funny!
