Ask And You Shall Receive: Part 1
You all were so kind to show some love and ask me questions here. So for today’s Thursday 13, I’m answering some of your burning questions (I’m posting these in batches since there were quite a few good ones).
1) Daddy Dan asked: I remember reading in one of your other many meme’s that you were once a model. I have three related questions:
1-What type of modeling did you do?
Oy. There are very few people I know outside of the blogosphere who know this about me.
I only dabbled in this field for a short time. I was younger, thinner, and had a much better body. I did a little TV, film, and runway (although I’m very short for that arena).
2- Where would we have seen you?
A few fashion shows in Miami. Two music videos (no, not half nek’ed). Both of them boy bands, and I was not the love interest in either. I may have been seen momentarily in few movies as well.
3- Are you going to share any of your old modeling pictures?
Nuh uh *shakes head*
2) Miss Sniz asked: Have you really read that book that you used for your last meme?
Nope. It’s my husband’s book. I am not a huge reader offline. There are only so many hours in the day, and oh so many blogs to read.
3) Kelly asked: If you were a tree, what tree would you be?
A palm tree. It would be warm where ever I was and possibly near a beach.
4) Around The Funny Farm asked:
Of all the places in the world, which would you pick to live?
Probably where we are now. I love Boston. I’ve traveled a little around the country, and I still love Boston and NYC. It would be perfect if the snow would
ease up.
What is your fantasy vacation?
Any place warm, secluded, and on the ocean. Plus an all inclusive resort with plenty of food and drinks….*sigh* Calgon take me away!
5) Tasina asked:
What’s your favorite meal that you make? Why is it your favorite and how often do you make it? How did you learn it – from family, a book, etc?
It would be a toss up between steamed pork with salted black beans (it’s a very Chinese homemade dish) over white rice, or meatloaf with mashed potatoes. I make a mean meatloaf (how’s that for polar opposites?). I make the pork nearly once a week and the meatloaf every 2 weeks. I learned how to make the pork from my mom and grandmother, and the meatloaf recipe is originally from Paula Dean from the Food Network, but I tweaked it a bit to make it my own
6) LaskiGal asked:
What is one career you’ve always wanted to do but have never told anyone?
A dancer.
If you could host your own talk show, what would it be like?
Me with plenty of co-hosts because I am horrible at speaking in front of a camera.
If a movie was made about your life, who would play you and why? Sandra Bullock, because I loved her in While You Were Sleeping, and she has great hair.
7) Crystal asked: What was the one thing you wanted to be when you grew up? – Again, dancer. It was the only thing I wanted to do for the first 18 years of my life. But my parents hated the idea of it, and never supported my talent or interest in it (that’s a whole other post for another day).
8 )Emily R asked: Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where I worshiped the beach and ate tons of black beans and rice.
I lived a few blocks away from here for a while —–>
9) Nissa asked: Do you put ice in your drinks?
YES! I do prefer having ice in my beverages, especially at restaurants. Water with ice and a lemon please!
10) Eve asked: Please describe your new home:
How many bedrooms? 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths
Open floor plan? It’s a typical New England style home. There are stairs to the 2nd floor as you walk in, and the rooms are not very open to one another. BUT we have a formal living and dining room, and an eat-in kitchen. We’ve never had any of those before!
Big kitchen? Thank heavens, YES! I’ve been living in apartments and condos for the past 10 years, so this one seems huge. Any kitchen that allows more than 1 person to stand in it is huge.
What you like best? Least? In the past year, we’ve looked at over a hundred homes. When I first walked through this one during an open house, I leaned over to my husband and whispered into his ear, “this is the one.” What I like best, is that we’re actually moving into it. What I like
least is the unfinished basement.
How’s the yard?
Beautiful… We have an actual “yard!” Honestly, the lawn is dead, and there is a ton of work to do, but we have a decent sized, flat, YARD! *squeal*
11) Melanie asked: Where do you find your long jeans/slacks?
Express and Banana Republic are pretty good about having long length pants. However, I haven’t been in any position to drop $50-$70 bucks on a pair of jeans or pants. So I find myself buying pants and letting out the hem a little, or buying long length pants, and taking them up a bit if needed. This site also has some great links for tall moms.
12) Kathryn asked:
What is your favorite clothing store?
One of my previous apartments was within walking distance to a Banana Republic and I walked in nearly everyday. As soon as they marked down their clothes in the Clearance section, I was all over it! I bought a sleek, fitted coat there once for $15.

Favorite restaurant?
Just one?! Hmm… I would say any place that serves flapjacks and decent coffee. I can eat breakfast at anytime of the day.
Favorite tv show?
Celebrity Rehab. By the time I get to bed, it’s the only thing on TV besides infomercials. I LOVE Dr. Drew and I think he’s gorgeous. But I just found out he’s nearly the same age as my father-in-law…I feel so dir-tay!
What is one thing you would change about yourself?
My boobs. ANY change would be an improvement.
What are you most proud of?
My daughters ability to recognize and sing along with jazz standards.
13) jameil1922 asked: I wanna know how you and the hubby met.

There is a bit of a story behind us, but I’ll have to post the long version in a separate post. Here’s the Cliff Notes version- I was in California for a 13- week assignment as a travel nurse. Hubby was living in the same city, also new to the town. I had no car, no friends and no family out there; just 3 suitcases and a computer. I went online to meet new people in the area (guys and gals to hang out with), and hubby sent me an email. After chatting online for a few weeks we finally met for drinks at a jazz bar. Actually, he picked me up (ladies, I don’t recommend doing that). I suppose it was sort of a blind date. Long story short, I discovered that we both loved jazz, he was the sweetest gentleman I’d ever met always opening my doors and sending me flowers, and most importantly, a big big uber geek. So…. I extended my assignment for 3 more months…
<—- Us, 2005.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
I promise to post the rest of the answers soon, and possibly some pics of the new place! Gotta get the final stuff lying around here into boxes.

Wow, and this is just a short Batch?
Well, at least I am getting to know more about you! You love meatloaf!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your Hubby!
Now, you gotta sing some more…

yay!!!!! meatloaf is sooo yummy. rachael ray makes short cut using salsa! it really helps moisten turkey meatloaf which has a tendency to dry out. lmao @ “There are only so many hours in the day, and oh so many blogs to read.” hahahahaha. is it a coincidence so many bloggers met their hubbies online? celeb rehab/dr. drew= fab!! miami! palm trees! black beans! love! have you ever been to calle ocho (i’m sure you have)? i’m thinking of going down there for it.

That’s such a great photo of you guys! I love a good all inclusive resort too. Before I got pregnant we went to a place called Sun Village in the Dominican Republic (not luxurious, but a nice beach and breathtaking views and landscaping, including 7 awesome pools – plus, free booze). I wish I were there under a big old palm tree. Happy V-day.

Celeb Rehab is oddly interesting, but I’ve only watched a couple episodes of it.
When I was in college, Dr. Drew had a speaking engagement here. At the time I had been watching a lot of his and Adam Corola’s show (sp?—the sex talk one, on MTV). I was EXCITED to meet him. I thought he was awesome, and just down right cool…and I felt sorry that he had to deal with Adam all the time.
When T and I walked threw the line to get his autograph—which was on the back of my ticket, and I have since lost, or else I’d give it to you—it was a big disappointment. I think I was too caught up in the whole meeting a celebrity idea. The only other person I had meet (incidently, all at the college, back before I met T) up until that point was BobCat Goldthwait, before he lost all his weight, when he was actually an OKAY guy. Unless I had met Tony Kushner before that, but I don’t think I was in the class I had to go see that for yet. I made what I think was a REAL fool of myself then—sorta emotional and other things, I was a real blabbering fool, I feel sorry for him having to deal with me…I want to meet him again one day, and tell him that while I know he probably doesn’t remember me, I met him at my college, and I want to apologize because I was a bit of an odd wreck that day. NOW HE WAS COOL. I’d really love to meet Tony Kushner again!

Funny! I had the biggest crush on Sandra Bullock after I watched While You Were Sleeping. I didn’t care that it was a chick flick. My sister was doing some exchange program in HK at the time and saw the Chinese version of the poster in the train station and took it and sent it to me. I still have it today. Ok I must be buzzin to have admitted that I liked a chick flick…
