Blacked out

Does it really say December at the top of this post?

Where the heck did November go?

There must be some level of amnesiacs in Turkey, because I seriously have no idea where the past week went.

All I know is that I posted here seven days ago, and I think I said something along the lines of Black Friday being a bad idea for a pregnant woman.

Apparently, I’m incapable of following my own advice.

After cooking for two days straight, gorging myself with three plates of dinner and two helpings of dessert, I lapsed into a food coma pretty early on Thanksgiving day.

Then Ms. Peanut inside my belly decided to tap dance on my bladder at 3:45 in the morning.  After schlepping myself out of bed to pee, I figured why not go out.  I was already up.

Then I looked outside.  It was pouring rain.

The thermometer outside of our window read 37F degrees.

Pregnancy brain doesn’t always function in the wee hours of the night.

So I went out into the cold, wet and rainy night anyway.

However, let it be noted that I did use some discretion. I opted NOT to venture anywhere near the gnashing teeth and clawing arms of Wal-martians like I did last year.

Nope.  I took the safe(r) route and headed to Tar-jay, where the shoppers were surprisingly much less savage.  Not once did I fear for my life.

Here is the line outside of the store as I drove into the parking lot at 4:45am. The doors opened at 5am.

TargetBlackFriday

Yes, it was freezing.  Yes, it was raining.

Yes, I actually stood in that line that wrapped around the huge department store.

I did score some major bargains.  Although I have to say, I spent more time on Black Friday surfing the internet for deals than ever before.

I even repeated the scenario early Monday morning.  I woke up at 3-ish in the morning, hunkered down with my laptop in the dark, and hunted bargains in my Pj’s until the sun came up.

All in all, it was a successful week.  I have no idea where the time went, and I have heavy bags beneath my eyes,  but hey, at least most of my Christmas shopping is done.

Now that I can sleep I’m afraid to.  Next thing you know, I’ll wake up and it will be 2010.

You are one brave woman. This time of the year I try to do all I can to avoid the Mall. I did have to go to Wal Mart (we have no Target here) It was horrible. I have done most of my shopping on line. I scored a couple of beautiful dolls off KangarooBoo.com. I lurvs them. I ordered some Lego for the boys on line too. You get a much better selection.

Ok – at the risk of sounding “encouraging” of such insanity oozing out of you these days, I have to admit that there have been several things that have both shocked and inspired me about your brave, crazy-ass attempts at being a daredevil. (Did I just type ass out-loud???? wow, see what effect you have on me???).

This is right up there with being out in your yard looking for creepy bugs and getting close enough to take a picture of that even creepier spider.
Again, I don’t endorse it, but it’s pretty darn liberating to live vicariously through another pregger like you :o )
Happy December! Can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with for this peaceful, ever so tranquil and not at all whacky time of year.
    xo

We went out too even after stuck in the airport the day earlier (on Thanksgiving day nonetheless) for 4 hours and arrived at home around midnight. Woke up at 5am to go to Walmart and yes I did fear for my life… :) Alas, the item we were looking for was long gone.. So it was a useless trip to say the least.

There is no comparison of WalMart and Target. They are worlds apart. There is a WM closer, but I got the extra miles to Target every. single. time.

I’m impressed you went out in that. I was snug in my bed at that hour. Although not for long, because our girl has been getting us up at 5:30 lately. Not loving that.

Ha! You are amazing, Sandy. I remember you getting those early morning bargains last year too. And this year while “great with child!” You so rock on your stick-to-it-ve-ness!!

I’ve been having a ball on eBay, getting stuff for Kelly’s American Girl doll Kirsten. Pretty good deals. Bought a “raw” doll bed, table and chairs for cheap. I’ll paint them and stencil and voila – major cuteness for about 30% of the usual price.

Love me some, I mean LOTS of eBay!
