Coming out

Some things are better left untouched, for they could lead you to places for which you are not prepared.

Places like the internet.  Forums.  Chatting.

All which could ultimately lead to meeting in person.

I mean, you never know who you may end up face to face with, right?  Although you might end up meeting your future husband.

While I was adventurous enough to seek out my geek spouse online, there is still one thing I have yet to do with my online identity.  I have not attended a large-scale blog conference.  I have yet to be in a room with hundreds of other people who do exactly what I do everyday online.  However, in just a few weeks, I will be in Chicago attending my first BlogHer.

Yes, I am a BlogHer virgin.

But last weekend, Susan Getgood was kind enough to open her home for a pre-conference meet-up, in order to get myself and other Boston area bloggers to…well…second base.

I entered her home with such nervous jitters, I completely forgot to take photos throughout most of the event. Actually. Scratch that.  I was just too busy yammering. Being in a house full of amazing bloggers and having the chance to actually speak with a voice, rather than through text, was almost surreal.

It was an incredible afternoon getting the chance to meet everyone.  Some even brought along their families and I recognized their faces immediately.

The meet up was just enough to wet my palate, but still leaving me thirsting for more.

‘Til Chicago…

Karen has also put together a fabulous video of the event.  Check it out here…but please fast-forward through my awkward 3 seconds. KThx.

Oh, and just so you don’t think I’m only into Asians, here I am with two other smokin’ hot ladies.

Wait.  Maybe that didn’t sound right.

I’m not that adventurous.

Dadisodes and Babisodes were there too for crying out loud!

Many thanks to Susan and her family for hosting the event, and to the sponsors. It was also my pleasure to meet Daddy Scratches, Catnip and Coffee, Miguelina, Transient Travels, Fairly Odd Mother, Chicky Chicky BabyMommy Niri, The Coupon GoddessMeal Makeover Moms, More Than Mommy, and others whose names fail me at the moment (forgive me).   I hope to meet again soon!

Wait! You started off as a BlogHer Virgin and ended up going all the way to 2nd base? Does that now make you a BlogHer ho? lol

Sounds like a WONDERFUL time! So glad that you go to go! And Babisodes….darling shot! :)

So glad you had a good time. Babisodes has endeared herself to me forever for loving the dogs so much that she had to visit them more than once. They (and I) say she can come visit anytime.

And you too of course :-)

Sounds like a great time. I often think it would be nice to meet some of the people I “know” from my time in the blogopshere.

By the way, I’m sure you HARDLY ever hear this, but that Babisodes is dang cute!

Thanks for the shout out. Last Saturday was my first blog-related event, as well, and I know what you mean about getting caught up yammering with other bloggers (as you know first hand by me talking your ears off at one point).

Wish I was going to Chicago. I expect a full report!

You look so great. That must have been such an amazing experience. I’m dying to go to a BlogHer conference or even meet up but they are too far from where I live.

Maybe if I make it a goal of mine, I’ll be able to save for next year.

You’re braver than I am. I don’t even know what BlogHer is, but I’m sure I’m not going to Chicago to meet bloggers. Not this year, anyway. You’re so talented and beautiful, I get mad when I read about your lack of self-confidence, but obviously it’s not as true as you think it is, because there you are, mingling just like everyone else, not sitting on the sidelines afraid to speak to anyone!

What? You’re not just into Asians?? ;) Can’t wait until BlogHer, except for the fact that I need new clothes, and have to sit on a panel. Ack!!

And you managed to meet more people than I did this past Saturday (in fact my hubby met more people than I did), good job!!

That’s so cool. I wish BlogHer will be some place closer to me.. like say ‘Atlanta’. :) I couldn’t believe that you are a BlogHer virgin. Congrat on loosing your virginity… Wait .. That doesn’t sound quite right. ;)

I will be attending my first blogger conference as well.. Will need to hear about the tips from you after your conference.

I so want to meet other bloggers in my area as well. I think I’m a little nervous. Suppose they don’t like me. Suppose I’m not what they thought I would be. Oh the jitters.

Have FUN at BlogHer! I wish I could go to something like that, but I live in the (relative) sticks, and there is nothing like that around, LOL!

  23. PatsyNo Gravatar

This looked like a great time for you all. Of the ones you met I have only read Karen from 3 G & 2 S. I really need to get back to her.

I’m a we bit jealous, not so much because you get to meet all the wonderful people, but because there are so many of you out there who can do this blog thing and make it look easy. I struggle everytime I start to write.

Oh, and the photo of Babisodes — well just to much for words. :)

Sadly, a pre-blogher meetup in the DC/Balt area has fizzled. I am getting more and more excited about Chicago, though!! Let’s see, I need to get my hair cut, get a mani/pedi, lose 40 pounds and buy an entirely new wardrobe. I think that is totally doable in one month.

What? I’m TOTALLY Asian. I only masquerade as Black to keep my true identity a secret! That was my first blog meet-up too. I was so nervous! Being a neurotic mess is funny in print, but in person? Not always.

I was pleased to meet people I could actually talk to. And that picture of Babisodes? I’m sitting like 3 ft away, stuffing my own face with a hot dog. My cheeks were just as full as hers. :P

So, yeah, I don’t hold the Asian thing against me when we meet in a few weeks, ‘kay? I am also a virgin (ha!) and nervous and so pumped at the same time…
