Flipping Out

Light “On”

Light “Off”

Light “On”

Light “Off”

“On”…. “Off”

On- Off- On- Off- On- Off….

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

lightswitch1

The testing continues here in the house o’ Momisodes.

That seems to be the ongoing theme these days. Babisodes has managed to find every possible light switch in the house that she can pull up to, stand on a chair, or scale a wall to reach. I read somewhere that this is normal behavior for a toddler, so I’m biting my tongue (hard) as I try my best not lapse into a seizure here.

Don’t me wrong. Watching as she discovers how the world around her works is pretty amazing. The initial novelty is always fun. Seeing her eyes light up as she illuminates a room by a mere flip of a switch.

But soon…it just became a game.

Believe me,…I lost. I’m guessing there are some terrorists out there fixing to lock up poor hostages in a room full of switches and 2-year olds. Flickering them into submission.

*Note* Originally posted on September 28, 2007 (hence mini-Babisode pics), back when I had maybe 1 visitor a month. My brain is mush today after exercising in 90F degree (32C) weather this morning. So I’m reposting this oldie, but goodie Silly Monkey Story.

“Reposting”- online recycling at it’s best ;)

That is a great story! It doesn’t matter if it’s from the past. Some of my stories came from a journal I keep of funny things the kids do. Let’s face it, we can’t expect our children to be entertaining all the time.

My one nephew when he was a baby wanted to know itf the light wen out when the fridge door was closed I told him yes and he said prove it,he decided that to have it prove to him he’d have to bi inside when the door was closed. I told him no way was I going to allow that to happen. So I showed him the switch that turns the light on ond off then he decided that was a fun thing to do. I told him no unless you are getting some out or putting thing the door has to stay closed.

Hopefully your toddler has now outgrown the on-off game – otherwise, you’ve REALLY lost!

Isn’t it nice to look back on things and be like, “I’m so glad we’ve outgrown that one!” Believe me, this gets even stronger in the teen years :~)

I haven’t reposted any of my old stuff…every once in a while I think it’s a good idea.

I remember when I was little and was able to reach the switch…man did I get a lecture from my electrician daddy who told me I was to NEVER do that. To this day I will “yell” at any child playing with the switch… and it sucks cause it really is fun.
