Free Copy of Chicken Soup For The Soul- Giveaway

I have a confession.

As thousands of people are sinking their teeth deep within the pages of the latest vampire series, I’m not.

I have a few issues.  I pick up a book, read a few pages, then suddenly it’s dinner and I have T-minus 25 minutes to whip up something the family is willing to eat, but will not result in an ER visit due to a clogged artery or malnutrition.  Then there are dishes…and the laundry…and my Google Reader on the verge of explosion…and oh yea, my family to attend to.

Point is I have not been able to pick up a book and read it cover to cover in quite some time. It’s probably been over three years (when I was on bedrest and forced to sit still for 5 months).  It is not for a lack of trying.  In fact, I am a frequent visitor of my local library.  However, they only allow checkout renewals once (yes, six entire weeks is not enough time for me to finish a book).

Thankfully, there is an alternative.  Short stories provide the perfect literary escape without any long-term commitment.

One of the most inspiring series I’ve found is Chicken Soup or the Soul. So I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to giveaway a copy of their latest  Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms Know Best (July, 2008).

Here is some information they’ve provided me:

Being a mom is a mind-boggling and exciting experience that’s filled with discoveries (some beautiful, and some – diapers? – not so beautiful). Three of Chicken Soup’s new parent titles embrace the ups and downs of being a mom, from bringing your first baby home to seeing your last child off to college – and all the spilled baby food, report cards, first dates, tears and giggles in between.  For more information visit: www.chickensoup.com.

Get a Free Copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms Know Best:

2) Leave your correct email in the comment form so I can contact you if you win.

3) This is open to U.S. residents only (sorry).

4) You must be willing to provide me with your mailing address if you win (I promise, I’m not a crazed serial killer or stalker. My husband wouldn’t approve).

–> Deadline to enter is Sunday, December 21st at midnight. I’ll choose a winner using a random number generator and will announce on Monday, December 22nd.

Good luck!

PS. I promise to have a giveaway suitable for moms, dads, and the non-parental variety soon, so stay tuned.

I can relate to the challenge of reading entire books in a timely manner because I don’t have a husband or daughter seeking my time or energy and I find it difficult these days too. Methinks BLOGGING is perhaps the biggest time stealing culprit. That said … don’t put my name (or number) in the drawing because I’ve got PLENTY to read and this title is PERFECT for all those busy moms out there!

I am totally with you on not being able to read books. I used to devour them when I was nursing! So here’s my DON’T PICK ME comment. I would love to read this book, except that I have about 5 books that I need to review and haven’t even touched them. I’m not at all sure whether these marketers actually follow up on them because some of them have been given to me a year ago. Still gotta keep good karma and all…

  34. PatsyNo Gravatar

You could pick me; I wouldn’t turn it down. I sympathize with your plot in life right now. I lived that life for many years. Work, school (had to have a master’s degree), kids, hubby, and all the things that go with each of them — and I had to read books the degree was in English with an emphasis on elementary education. Now I read just because I want to and I can read long books with big words, not just a million childrens books, which although very good, just don’t have quite as much meat as I like.

ooooh, oooh, Pick Me, Pick Me. I completely understand about not being able to find time to read. I just said to myself I need a book to read. I use to read all the time just to keep me motivated, but since having my baby and going back to work, and starting this blog, I’ve been so focused on everything else, but my precious book time.

Ok.. I confess I’m one of those vampire series mom addict! It’s the first book that I have ever finished since I have kids which is 6 years ago. It’s wise that you didn’t pick it up. It’s very addictive so you will probably ignore your dish, laundry or even screaming kids for a bit.

Anyway, now that I start reading again I would love to get this book as well. :) Do I have to say ‘pick me’? Can I ask please choose me?

The only way I’ve been able to “read” the Twilight series is by borrowing the CD from the library. That way while I work I can listen, I usually miss big spots, but it’s better then read the book or trying to while I hide myself in the bathroom :) .

I love short stories and those I can read in between baths and laundry! Thank you so much, I hope I win ;)
