Guess How Much I Love You
I have a nasty habit of holding onto things. No matter how many times I move.
Things such as ex-boyfriends movie ticket stubs, old work badges, love letters, mini skirts that will never fit ever again…
You get the point.
When my daughter was about 7 months old, we celebrated her very first Easter holiday. So when I came across these adorable, fluffy bunny ears in the $1 section of Tar-jay, I couldn’t resist.
(See? Now you know why people asked if I was the nanny.)
That photo was taken three years and three address changes ago.
Last weekend, in lieu of the upcoming Easter holiday, we met up with some out-of-town family for dinner and received an obscene amount of candy and gifts.
Babisodes scored big. I mean BIG.
Among one of the items were a new set of bunny ears. Of course, they immediately reminded her of the ones she had years ago. How she remembered? I have no idea. My guess is that she’s part elephant, and still remembers life inside the womb.
“Mommy! Mommy! Can I have my OTHER bunny ears, too? Can I? Can I? Can I? Pleeeeeease?”
“Babisodes, *sigh* those bunny ears are tucked away in the attic, inside a box, waaaay underneath a bunch of things from Christmas and Halloween. Why do you need the other pair anyway? These are brand new bunny ears, and you can’t wear both of them.”
*Grabs step stool to stand beside me*
“Ow! What…are…you…doing, kid? Don’t take my eye out, okay?”
“Dere mommy! NOW can I have my other ones?
How could I argue with that?
Especially when I have this to look forward to on Sunday (yes, I really received this much chocolate ever since I gave it up for lent).
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Who ever said you were Babisodes’ nanny must have very poor eyesight! You both look very adorable, even with the bunny ears. My daughter’s baby is based on Guess How Much I Love You, and it’s such a darling.

This was beyond cute! You guys make the cutest little bunnies this side of the Playboy Mansion! To be honest, I think you are cuter than any of the bunnies ever in the Playboy mansion. Classic photos! Love them. And I love the nod to one of the cutest little books ever … my son and I love that book.
And isn’t it weird how much they do remember? I’m continually shocked at what my son dredges up from his memory.

But just put something of theirs away, something they haven’t seen or used for a decade, and suddenly it’s their most prized possession.

When my brother was about 3 or 4 years old, he could remember what family members were wearing on an occasion a year before. Little kids are amazing.

Momisodes, you and your daughter look so much alike itis amazing anyone would question the relatiuon. I tried on a shirt sent me from Indonesia, and I assure you they nhave a different concept of XL than I do.
I remember a treat madem of rice or cassava wrapped in a banana leaf called suman. Amazing how I think of suman when I put on that shirt. But, I note that after 10 weeks of gym class, I fit in the shirt better than when I received it in the mail.
P. S. my mother wrote in to blow the anonymity of the “poor 18 year old” in my blog….
