Had I not performed an enema before, perhaps I would consider a colonic irrigation

Belly-31.5weeks

Yeah, yeah I know. I am not fat.

I’m just pregnant.

Well, and apparently in desperate need of a comb…and a decent haircut, too.  I really need to stop snapping these photos so early in the morning.

Anyway, I have no idea how I let this happen, but I have neglected to take a belly shot in over three weeks! I guess the weekly pregnancy photo timeline I was shooting for will have a gaping hole.

So tomorrow (Friday) will be my 32-week check up. Or as I like to call it, my “weigh-in.”

I will confess that every appointment I dread stepping on that scale. I perform an irrational ritual in the 24-48 hours preceding each visit (especially since I know my body is gaining more than the recommended 1 pound per week) in hopes of providing the most accurate weight.

I pretty much fiber up. Yeah, it is exactly what you think.

Spinach, apples, prunes, Fiber One,… if it will help expedite movement down below and clear up extra room I will consume it.   I figure there is no harm in stopping the Lucky Charms train for some roughage. And trust me, Fiber One may not be marshmallow-y delicious, but it quite is magical.

However, one time I must not have drank enough water with everything, and I swear I was at least 3 pounds heavier at weigh in.

Clearly, I have lost all semblance of sane behavior, but I think I’m just terrified of birthing another baby as large as Babisodes.

The tearing down below the last time?

I will not even begin to go into details.  As if the word “tearing” is not graphic enough.  I will say that there were many, many stitches.  Followed by a whole lot of Tucks pads, sitz baths, and pain meds afterward.

I would rather not have a repeat performance of that thankyouverymuch.

However, as of right now, I cannot complain.

Although I am certainly feeling the effects of carrying an extra 20-ish pounds around all day (all in front), I am feeling pretty decent and am still mobile. I’m just a little slower.

Just to preempt any questions you may have (I usually get a few when I post these belly shots), hopefully these stats will clear things up:

- How far along is the pregnancy: 31 weeks + 6 days

- How much weight I’ve gained thus far:  20-ish, I think.  I will know more tomorrow.

- Am I wearing maternity jeans in these photos:  No, but I do sometimes during the week.  These are regular jeans that are 2-3 sizes larger than my usual (they were much cheaper than maternity jeans).  I’ve been trying to wear the same ensemble with each of these belly shots for continuity.  Unfortunately, I will probably need to retire these jeans soon and wear those thick, elastic banded jeans all the time.

- Do we have a name for the baby yet: Nope.  We have not chosen a name for the baby in real life, or online yet. Nothing has jumped out at us thus far.  However, if it were a boy, we would have been set months ago.

If I’ve missed anything, let me know.

Let’s pretend I have some clever and witty ending here because I’ve got nothing today.

Besides, I gotta go…

Nature calls.

The fact that your weight is “all in front” makes me kind of hate you (in the best way possible, of course. Since when I am not being a total brat I think you’re fabulous). I usually gained about 20 ish all in front too. And some more in the back and some more in my toenails and about 10 ish in my face. Sigh.

I used to get a bonkers before visits too because I swear my doctor KNEW what I had been binging on. He was a food psychic. I’m convinced.

P.S. Sorry. I can’t spell. Is that how you spell psychic?

You look adorable! When I was pregnant, I would weigh myself fully dressed right before going to my appts and if I was too heavy I would change into less bulky clothes. Once I even took off a necklace b/c it added 3 ounces to my weight. I dread the weigh in!

    lol, you are SO cute!

I gained 78 with my third. And I was watching my food consumption that time. lol! ( I can laugh now, I wasn’t then)

Are those maturnity pants? Cuz when I had my kids the pants were realllllly ugly with a big expandable pouch in the front, lol. I haven’t seen a pair of prego pants in many many years. So I really wouldn’t know.

You look so good that you could probably do that pregnancy modeling. :)

I dreaded the weigh in more than any other part of the visit. Seriously, they should not make pregnant women do that with such a tender psyche. I love that you would fiber up. That is so funny,, and I am going to have to remember that.

  33. MelissaNo Gravatar

Every belly pic I’ve gone back and checked side by side because I was sure you were just repeating an old one because you look so tiny. It’s odd how people percieve things differently. Although you are feeling it while we just see it. Maybe I’ve seen too many of Mamaspohr’s belly pictures and I’m skewed but you look so little to me! Anyway, I hope your routine works and you’re satistfied with your weigh in. Just know that from where I’m standing, you look perfectly lovely and modelesque, no lies!

    I love this line…

“And trust me, Fiber One may not be marshmallow-y delicious, but it quite is magical.”

Girl, you crack me up! LOL

I am sooooo bad about taking belly photos. For me, I don’t think there’s anything interesting to at yet. I just look like I drank too much beer. I have my 16 week check-up in a couple of week and I think I’ll take a belly pic then, but I’ll probably forget again. :-P

BTW…I’ve been so happy with my own weight gain. I can still fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans with the help of the Target’s version of the Bella Band, which wasn’t around for my other pregnancies. It’s like a lycra tube top that you wear around your waist. I can leave my jeans unzipped and the Bella Band hold everything in place. LOVE IT! The Bella Band is a beautiful thing. :-)

I cannot believe you are still wearing regular clothes. At this point, my belly was full of new bright red stretch marks all over. I gained 27 pounds total for baby 2. Even though she was smaller (8 lb 11 oz if you can call that small), I still tore, but not as badly as the first. And she practically fell out, which was a plus. Can’t wait to hear the new name :) .

I’ve been considering “throwing” my first weigh-in, biggest loser style, on my first visit the next time I get pregnant. You know – drink about 15 pounds of water. Then the next month when I lose 20, I’ll just say I’ve been sick. Then my net-net weight gain will not be nearly as hard to swallow.

Only problem? I’d need to get amnesia – because I’d still know the truth.
