Hip to be a dude

I have two words for you.

Holy crap.

Wait.  Not those two.

These:  Pubic Symphysis

For those not up to speed on medical lingo, it is the point where a body’s left and right hip-bones join together.

Right now, this area is having a bit of a tiff and they are going their separate ways

…at my expense.

Apparently this fetus has been camping down low in my pelvis for so long because she refuses to get out that the pressure is taking its toll.

PelvisMisalign

This joint normally loosens during pregnancy due to hormones, but in some cases it can become abnormally wide,  misaligned, and tear.  To give you some idea of how awesome this feels here is a little Wiki excerpt for you:

In males, the suspensory ligament of the penis attaches to the pubic symphysis. In females, the pubic symphysis is intimately close to the clitoris….

As much as this sucks, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the suggestion of using a ‘Rice Sock‘ to treat the pubic pain.

I could totally rival The Pregnant Man with a lavender scented stuffed sock wedged in my panties.

    Just ouch.

Also, a rice sock beats a zucchini wrapped in tinfoil, I’d imagine. I hope you saw Spinal Tap or this comment would mean nothing but “huh?” to you.

I love rice socks, although admittedly, I’ve never had to use it ‘there’. Hope she comes out soon and the healing can begin!

Oww, owww, owwww. That does not sound good at all and I don’t see how some sock filled with rice is going to make much difference. That is the cynic in me talking. This child needs to come out soon. I keep thinking that today will be the day and here you still are!

At some point in time, part of the process of creation made me a boy and not a girl. I’m told, in fact, that at the beginning, ALL fetuses are physically girls, and they become boys with the onset of influence of certain hormones during development. (Know how to make a hormone? Don’t pay her.) Anyway. I am so glad that I came out a boy. And not a girl. If for no other reason, had I been born a girl, I probably never would have found this sick sense of humor.

Oh honey *huge hugs* I remember that excruciating pain all too well. It’s scared me into never wanting to be pregnant ever again!

I’ve heard people who swear by reiki for it, and others who insist that wearing lycra cycling shorts help loads.

For me, the only thing that helped was getting the little one OUT and not letting myself stay in one position for too long so it wasn’t so painful to move around. It may get a bit worse for the first week or so after birth, but with both mine it went away completely about 2-3 weeks after the birth.

((((((((((massive hugs)))))))))) to you sweety. xxxx

You’re awesome the lavender sock rocks! I got that recommendation too at some point during my pregnancy. Hip problems like yours I’ve only heard about from women having twins. Take it easy, the little one is coming soon I’m sure. :)

I remember at one point during my second pregnancy I told the doctor it felt like my uterus was tearing apart. He reassured me by telling me such a thing is very rare. Um, I was hoping for impossible!

Haha, sorry to laugh, but you reminded me to do my daily affirmation. See, after watching the misses go through 2 pregnancies, I thank God EVERY SINGLE DAY I am a boy. Seriously, I honestly do. EVERY DAY. We got the easy end of the stick when it comes to this stuff. To think I was apprehensive, although willing, when I got “the snip” was crazy in hindsight. I drove myself home for crying out loud.

LOL – oh my gosh I almost died laughing at your handy-dandy contraption!!!!
I have been feeling this pain for a few weeks (yeah, don’t ask, I gained enough weight for quintuplets) and all I managed to come up with was a boring ice pack wrapped in a boring towel (not even rainbow stripes like your sock!).

    You are too funny Sandy!
(But in all seriousness, I hope the sock works to relieve the pain until baby comes :) )

I think your two words adequalty summed it up. I never knew what this centimeters babble was, high school health class must’ve skipped that detail…bones move for babies? That’s craziness, pure craziness. Kind of like a security gate, but in our pelvis.

Ok I actually know how that feels. During child birth this last time my daughter suffered from shoulder Dystocia. The subsequent maneuvers to expel her were to grab me by both legs and wiggle my hips in opposite directions. Let`s just say it took a year to feel like my hips were not pinching me from the inside out. :(
