Holiday Balls
After 2 weeks of on-and-off snow, bitter cold temps, and a mailbox assault from holiday cards, we’ve finally succumbed to the holi-daze. On Saturday, we braved the chaotic mall and swam with frenzied sale shoppers all morning. Despite my 2-year old nearly breaking a few thousand dollars worth of fine china, and some singed nose hairs from the perfume counter, we made it out unscathed. Unfortunately, we still have no gifts. But at least we have our lives to speak of, and besides, that’s what online shopping is for right?
So we retreated back to our home, lit our fireplace (well, flicked the switch “on” to our gas fireplace), and decided to put up our tree. This year is the first time our daughter has some understanding of Christmas. She’s mentioned wanting to see Santa Clause, a Christmas tree, reindeer, etc. So when we pulled out our gloriously artificial, last-year’s- Target- clearance-special tree (I had no desire to buy a real one since we’re moving in a few weeks), Ella was jumping with delight! I unfolded all of the plastic green branches, and dressed it up in lights. When the time came to decorate it with ornaments, Ella had. a. ball… Literally.
Here she is placing ornaments on the tree…
Here’s what eventually happens to the lower half of a tree with 2-year old decorator.
I guess the ornament display needed some consolidation……

Allie has this little hot 2 1/2 feet pink tree that I found on clearance after christmas last year. This year she decorated it and placed all of the ornaments on the very top. It’s definitely interesting…

The last picture had me literally LOL!! Love it! The new style of decorating your tree!! ~ Bravo for you having the patients to let your daughter help you put the ornaments on!! I wish I could do this… well I do, but I only let each of them put on one or two ornaments! I’m a weirdo I know, and I take the fun out of it… but maybe this year will be different with everyone being older. We haven’t done our tree this year, yet… we are thinking next weekend for sure if not one night this week!!
Love your tree though!! And of course, Ella, looks like a doll ~ too cute!!

I think Ella did a fantastic job. I think that you should leave it exactly how she did it and every time you feel grumpy just look at that. It will bring a smile to your face. How precious. I used to keep photos of my grand kids at work. It was my happy zone. If somebody ticked me off…viola…happy zone…fixed me up just fine. Or at least keep the picture handy.

Ella did a good job by being creative. Nice tree. I’m still waiting for my tree from Australia. My sister says she wants to bring one back. By the way, this is my first visit.

LOL!!! The last picture is priceless! I love it.
Very pretty tree!
Our tree went up several weeks ago – and will likely stay up until after Chinese New Year. We’re weird. I know. We do this every year… my grandpa started it decades ago, and he also used to put greeting cards on the tree because he didn’t have a lot of ornaments.
Anyway, the kids helped with decorating it. They love hanging the ornaments, about half of which are artwork that they did from preschool and other Christmasy places/events.

Well, I think she did a fabulous job! My son thought all of the candy canes should congregate, too. I guess they don’t want the decorations getting lonely or something!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I’m not sure which blog I hopped from.
Anyway, I love your tree. You daughter looks adorable as she was putting the balls around the tree.
