I could have been in a MC Hammer video

There are some actions that are highly inadvisable when in a state of panic.  Perhaps not just panicking, but maybe even trying to satisfy your curiosity.

For instance, if you suddenly wake up with a mild stomachache, dizziness, and wishing you could lie in bed all day.  Whatever you do.  Do not ask. the. Internet.

Really, it can only lead to bad things.

Or if you already know the way to a Target two towns over, do not turn on your GPS to find an alternate route or potential shortcut.  The voice of Susan will only lead astray… to an empty parking lot… four miles away… at a Costco.

And never, ever, while early in your pregnancy, take it upon yourself to open up the storage bin in the attic full of maternity clothes from your last pregnancy.

No matter how uncomfortable and restricting your jeans have become, there stands a good chance you may not be prepared for what you find.

Because sometimes being ignorant of the massive proportions to come …can be bliss.

A maternity skirt from my last pregnancy, worn at about midway through the 9 months.
And no, it is nowhere near an X-large.

ROFL. It happens to all of us. :D

  2. Joyce-AnneNo Gravatar

And, oh, I was first to comment. Yay! (I admit it, I’m a geek.)

  3. dysfunctional momNo Gravatar

*snicker* You asked for it, you got it!

  4. AsianmommyNo Gravatar

    Great pictures! :)

I remember being too big to fit into any of my maternity clothes by my ninth month. So sad!

  5. jameilNo Gravatar

lol. congrats and welcome to pregnancy not that i would know anything about that. and susan STAYS getting people lost! hater!!!

  6. ChrisNo Gravatar

There are certain things that I, as a never-will-be-pregnant male, must refrain from commenting on. However, I agree with your take on internet diagnoses — are they ever right? Are they ever in the ballpark?

    I hope you’re feeling ok!

  7. mike golchNo Gravatar

great photos.and I’ll leave it at that.

  8. Mama in SuburbiaNo Gravatar

LOL…just one of those “wonderful” things you have to look forward to.

  9. Amelia ThompsonNo Gravatar

Oh man I am DYING of laughter right now! Is that wrong??? Well I’m laughing WITH you and not at you if that makes it any better. I refuse to pull out my maternity clothes after I pair of shorts I tried on fell to the floor a month or so ago. Maybe, maybe, maybe in the 8th or 9th month out of sheer despiration will I try them again. Awesome keepsake photos. ;-)

  10. Angela at mommy bytesNo Gravatar

I actually gained less weight with my 2nd than my 1st, but I was definitely huger. I am so glad it’s you and not me, as long as I get to visit!

  11. ZoeyjaneNo Gravatar

I’m thinking you were bigger the first time around, before Babisodes came to incubate. Because you’re like, my size, IF that big, and I was searching frantically through all of Vancouver for XS sized maternity wear. Those photos? So not happening. ;)

  12. KatNo Gravatar

HAHAHA! I bet that would be tight on me right about now. :)

  13. Muthering HeightsNo Gravatar

LOL…I hope you will take a comparison photo when it fits!

  14. PatsyNo Gravatar

Too funny. Qestion – how much did you gain with Babisodes? It is hard to imagine you large enough to keep that skirt up.

  15. scrappysueNo Gravatar

well, one thing’s for sure – you get that gorgeous figure back afterwards!

  16. Cecily RNo Gravatar

I WISH I could have worn that skirt. My guess though, once I popped that thing would have MAYBE lasted a week around my middle. Maybe.

  17. SharonNo Gravatar

ha ha ha! So true! I tried my maternity stuff on right after I got pregnant to see what they’d be like and they were HUGE on me and now my baby is 3 months and the maternity clothes still fit! Sooooo sad! ;)

  18. Tiaras & TantrumsNo Gravatar

no way did that ever fit you! I don’t believe it for a second!

  19. JientjeNo Gravatar

You looki great! And you will still look stunning, even in those!

  20. JientjeNo Gravatar

Damn typo! I mean you LOOK great, but you got that, right?

  21. AliciaNo Gravatar

    Oh my gosh..that’s crazy!!!!! LOL!!!!

  22. LeidyNo Gravatar

Those are great pictures. If its any consolation, I gained a lot more and got way bigger with my first pregnancy than with my second. I think it had to do with the fact that the first time around I thought oh I need to eat double portions one for me and one for the baby ;p and then second time I knew better.

  23. ShellyNo Gravatar

Ugh. I gained 85 lbs when I was pregnant. It was obscene and I was shameless when it came to food. I can’t imagine doing it all again.

  24. Alana @ The Good Girl Gone BlogNo Gravatar

You’re so tiny! (I know, I’m one to talk haha)

  25. lceelNo Gravatar

Woman, that’s quite a change in size you’re looking at. But, to paraphrase, A woman’s got to do what a woman’s got to do. And if that means filling that skirt out while you’re pregnant, then by golly, you just go right ahead and have at it. Just don’t throw away any of those little itty bitty things you wear now, ’cause, you know, we DO like you the way you are and kinda want to see you get back there. After you’re done. And 2.0 is here.

  26. MomisodesNo Gravatar

Joyce-anne- Woohoo! I get excited too. I’m RARELY first to comment :)

    Dysfunctional mom- So true…

Asianmommy- You are so right. That last month was such a challenge.

jameil- LOL! I am indeed excited about, but this is a bit daunting. I seriously agree, Susan’s a hater!

Chris- :D Ugh, web diagnosis. The internet is a scary place.

    Mike- thank you :)

Mama in Suburbia- Indeed it is

Amelia Thompson- Hehe, that sounds like a great idea. But for me, I’m guessing I’ll be needing that skirt way sooner than that!

Angela at mommy bytes- Really? I really hope I weigh less with this pregnancy, too. But I really have no desire to be more huge. I can hardly even fathom it.

ZoeyJane- You are adorably tiny. I think I may be bigger. Pre-Babisodes I was around the same weight as I am now (just distributed differently), and only wished I wore XS maternity wear :)

Kat- No. You look amazing. I was actually telling my husband how great you look in all your pics.

Muthering Heights- haha, That’s a good idea. I will have to remember to do that.

Patsy- I gained a TON of weight for Babisodes! Around 40-45 pounds. In fact, that skirt did not even fit towards the end. I probably would have gained less weight if I was not on bedrest for the last 4 months of the pregnancy. I was confined to my bed… like a veal.

scrappysue- Ha! Gorgeous would not have been my word of choice, but you are so sweet to say so :)

Cecily R- I think I was the same with Babisodes. That skirt didn’t last for more than a few weeks. Kind of scary.

Sharon- Aw, no worries. I think it’s normal for that to happen. At least I hope it is. I was the same way after Babisodes.

Tiaras & Tantrums- I PROMISE. But you’re right about one thing. That skirt did not fit for very long…because I grew way bigger.

    Jientje- Thank you :D

Alicia- I know. Crazy SCARY if you ask me.

Leidy- Oh that’s reassuring to hear. Except, I’m starving all the time with this pregnancy, and could seriously eat all the time. But like you said, I know better now. Or at least, what can happen. I hope I don’t gain as much this time around.

Shelly- I think it’s really hard not putting on a bit of weight. I know it feels like that for me. Especially since I’m hungry all.the.time. Seriously, I could eat 3…maybe 4 of everything if I allow myself.

Alana @ The Good Girl Gone Blog- LOL! Alana, you are definitely one of the tiniest friends I know :)

lceel- I know what you mean. It’s just par for the course, and in some ways I’m excited, but when I think about the future (and how far I’ll stretch), it’s a bit daunting.

  27. Lisa @ Boondock RamblingsNo Gravatar

Lady, you better brace yourself! :-) But it is all for a very good cause! Never forget that!

  28. KimNo Gravatar

Sandy, I laughed out loud at this one.. I don’t think you could have ever fit into that. you are so tiny!!!

  29. CaraNo Gravatar

I don’t want to get my maternity wear out because I am afraid it will still fit.

  30. SarahHub @ Oakbriar FarmNo Gravatar

Oh, geez! I waited way too long this pregnancy to break out the maternity clothes. When I finally put them on, I was all like “Oh, yeah. This is how it feels to breathe!”

  31. SarahNo Gravatar

See now it would make me excited to see those fat clothes again!! I would be wondering when the day would come when I could wear them again!!

*Giggle* At least now you know better!!!

  32. Amy @ The Q familyNo Gravatar

You are so petite. I don’t even think you will get that big. :)

These pictures is kinda remind me of all those weight loss commercial. ;) Guess it’s the reverse kind of commercial.

  33. Felicia - I Complete MeNo Gravatar

Man if I was to get pregnant I have no maternity clothes to look at. I would have to start all over. I like that because I won’t be reminded and there are new fashions out. I suggest you hide (meaning donate to another pregnant woman who needs it) and start over. Then you don’t have a reminder of how big you’ll get. You’ll just have to wait and see. Works for me (lol).

  34. AllisonNo Gravatar

Oh my goodness! You are so tiny, I can’t imagine you ever wearing pants that big! But then I remember how big I got, and I guess it makes sense ;)

I’m SO happy for you. I’ve been reading along these past few weeks but just haven’t had the time/ability to comment. Congrats! You must be a million times relieved and excited :)

teehee…several comments went through my head, but I know better than to be sarcastic to a hormonal pregnant woman! ;)

  37. MissNo Gravatar

    *blink*

    No.

    *double take*

NO WAY. The waistband on that skirt looks bigger than your HEAD Sandy.

  38. The MotherNo Gravatar

Brave, getting those skirts out now. I’d be crawling into a bowl of ice cream…

  39. Chronicles of MomniaNo Gravatar

LOVE it. look at it this way…at least you can see that it DOES go back. :-)

  40. Holly at Tropic of MomNo Gravatar

It’s just because you’re so slim to begin with!

  41. CookieNo Gravatar

Oh, that in between stage is tough! Just go nakey!

  42. WayneNo Gravatar

they are a bit big now STOP HAMMER TIME!

    great photo friday

  43. JennersNo Gravatar

Freaky isn’t it? A reminder of what is to come!!! Think … in just a “few short months” those jeans will fit just right! : )

  44. CarrieNo Gravatar

I’m 32 weeks with my 3rd, and I have reached the point where every bottom falls under my belly, and every top slides up on it, so I’ve always got skin hanging out in front. And I just don’t care anymore.

You look great, and I’m sure will just continue to throughout the pregnancy.

    Good luck.

  45. HeatherNo Gravatar

OH MY WORD. You are TINY and those are HUGE.

I can’t wait to see if you actually end up filling them out!
    :)

  46. Coal Miner's GranddaughterNo Gravatar

HONEY! PUT THE SKIRT DOWN!!! BACK AWAY SLOWLY!!!

*Ahem.* Now, Deeeeeeep breaths. Good. Quit Rubbermaid-storage-bin-diving to the end-of-pregnancy clothes. Start off small or you’ll have a heart attack.

And I totally know what you mean. Looking at those large-sized elastic waistband is enough to give any woman, pregnant or not, a temporary moment of insanity.

  47. louannNo Gravatar

OMG! Those pictures are so cute.

  48. MelissaNo Gravatar

OMG, I’m dying of laughter but only because that picture is quite close to what I would look like DROWNING in a pair of my own maternity pants.

And you’re right that skirt is no where near an extra large! You’re going to feel like a whale in a few months but don’t worry you will shrink again :) You’re beautiful!

  49. MelissaNo Gravatar

Damnit Sandy! My husband was wondering what the hell I was giggling about and I showed him. And he just shook his head and said, “no more babies.” I guess he doesn’t want to see me 9 months pregnant again? FYI, I want another baby :)

  50. Jen of a2eatwriteNo Gravatar

It looks like you could use that for a flotation device or something. But think of all the little butterfly kicks at that stage of the game!

  51. Rachel @ Grasping for Objectivity in my Subjective LifeNo Gravatar

Oh Yikes. I totally feel your pain. I got all of mine out a few months ago to loan to my best friend, and I about DIED.

    They were HUGE.

And it doesn’t help that I was 20 lbs heavier before I got pregnant than I am now. It just makes it all more depressing how GIGANTOR I was. Oh, eek.

Don’t worry – you’ll never fit into that skirt again and will have to buy all new cute small maternity clothes because you’ll be so teeny the whole time!! ;)

  52. the planet of janetNo Gravatar

    *snicker*

    danger, will robinson, danger!

  53. AshleyNo Gravatar

lol. Now is when you run to Old Navy (and like places) and find all of the tanktops on clearance that you can. You know, the long ones. And then you put them under your other shirts and let the bottoms of them go OVER your pants which are left unbuttoned. Or, a belly band. Or, just start wearing elastic peasant skirts. :)

  54. Maggie`s MindNo Gravatar

Cute, cute post. I bet you are going to one of those really cute pregnant women who still looks great.

  55. Undercover PrincessNo Gravatar

Yay-hay-hay! With my first born I didn’t even NEED maternity clothes until I was a good seven months. With my second kid I needed them by 4 months. I was astounded (with emphasis on the as). :) Happy pushing!

  56. Nancy@ifevolutionworks.comNo Gravatar

I can’t even imagine you fitting into those… EVER!!!! Thanks for the laugh :)

  57. ChrissyNo Gravatar

WOW! I love this post! I just LOVE the way you write, Sandy! :) Hope you are doing well! xoxo

  58. KelleyNo Gravatar

put the skirt away and let us not speak of it again.

Until your 8th month when we will laugh and laugh at how you thought you wouldn’t fit in it…

    Smootches sweetie.

  59. Nap WardenNo Gravatar

The bad news…I got big so fast with baby number two.

The good news…I lost it way faster as well!

  60. katcarneoNo Gravatar

Nyah, watta laugh. I guess a few months from now you’ll be looking at your ordinary clothes with the same feeling. :-)

  61. perpstuNo Gravatar

ROFL! But look how well you bounce back? You are TINY!

  62. sheilaNo Gravatar

OMG, you sure did great losing all that weight!
Isn’t it amazing what we put our bodies through? Stunning!

  63. Karen MEGNo Gravatar

OMG Sandy, those are massive LOL!

How sad is it that when I was pregnant with the girl I had to get into the maternity clothes I had from the first … at 6 weeks. Ugh.

Hang in there, and BTW, don’t do that to yourself again, okay?
