I Was Sick and Lost It, But It’s Coming Back…

As many of you know, last week I was sick. Really sick. Sick to the point where I could barely consume water, and really had no desire to try because it would only mean I would have to get up and pee later. After four days of very little eating and fighting the flu, I lost 5 pounds.

The upside- I have conquered my weight loss goal for 2008 in January. Woohoo!
The reality- It will be back shortly,…and will probably bring some friends.

See, I have this problem. I eat. A lot. Take me to a buffet and those plate picker-uppers shoot me angry stares and show me their fists. I have been this way for years and blame it on my high metabolism. But I can literally eat every. three. hours. Since I had my daughter I would say that my food choices have worsened. Something about being on a strict gestational diabetic diet during pregnancy- no carbs, no sweets, no food with taste! It sent me over the edge a little. As an incentive to push during labor, women often bring photos or important personal items to focus on during labor. My incentive while pushing – a box of Little Debbie’s in front of my bed. I pushed and pushed in-front of 15 people staring at my perineum. Did I care? No! I just wanted Ella out, and my damn box of Swiss Cake Rolls!

So in lieu of Thursday Thirteen, I give you…

13 Reasons Why My Sickness Weight Loss Will Return

1) Easy Mac. ‘Nuff said.

2) Cream cheese- the “Less fat” kind only means less taste, so I smear it on double.

3) Rice- I’m Chinese. I have to.ferrerorochers

4) Two words- Ferrero. Roche.

5) Coffee- As much as I wish I were hardcore enough to drink it black, I just can’t. Cream and sugar is as necessary as the caffeine.

6) Pancakes- All I need to do is to add water.

7) Fruit- I know it’s healthy. But eating a ton of it will still make me fat.

8 ) Lays potato chips- You can’t eat just one!

9) Coke- You can’t eat just one chip and not have a coke.

10) Damn Nabisco! As if Oreo’s needed improvement!
Have you tried these? Bet you can’t eat just one of these either…
OreoCakesters

11) Cake- I like to eat it. By the sheet.
emptycakepan

12) Brownies- I like to eat them. By the pan.

13) Fast food- I don’t do it often. But if I do drive thru, I often order a combo meal, with a heart attack on the side. See…

Burgerking dinner
Yes, there is a burger beneath the pile of grease. And yes, some of those onion rings are missing from the car ride home…

Oh hello fat pants.  Welcome back…

I sign almost all of those points.
And copy pasting my old blog entries with my fitnesstuff from 2005 doesn’t help.
Damn, I did a lot back then and was close to 10 Kilos (over 20 pounds) lighter.

    I should give it a try again…….

Anyhow, I’m glad you feel better!!! :)

And to think … I’ve got my Weight Watchers meeting this morning in about 5 hours. It’s a good thing it’s dark & rainy out and I don’t have any of those things in the house to eat … or I’d be tempted! Shame, shame, shame, shame, shame on you for putting a picture of Oreos in front of me in this manner! I don’t even walk down the cookie aisle in the store these days … though Trader Joes DOES put their Brownie Bites and Ginger Cookies on shelves above the frozen food … so I’m tempted each week by those yummy treats (and occasionally succumb to temptation and buy them). As for drive thrus … I’ve trained myself to pretend they don’t exist because I can’t let myself eat ALL my points in a single meal any longer. Of course with a toddler around, I suppose it’s harder to manage … but you DO want to teach her to eat well, don’t you? LOL
    Hugs and blessings,

I would remind you that you have a built-in weight loss device that will help to work off some of those excess calories – it’s called BEING A MOM. And of course, as the object of your affections gets to be a bit bigger, and perhaps, not quite so effective at helping mommy control her weight, because she’s off at school and stuff like that, she will still continue to help you some with weight control in that she will be bringing home childhood diseases and various and sundry viruses on a regular basis.

Just thought I would share that.

Oh I had to laugh so hard when I read this! See, I was sick this week also – only for a couple of days, but I think I’ve eaten a sum total of 3 bagels since Monday night. And my list of why any few pounds I may have lost will definitely come back soon looks very similar to yours (with the exception of coffee)!

Brownies – yum… Oh and they’re even starting to really sound good again. I’m in big trouble. :)

    sorry :-(

i am attempting to lose weight the old fashioned way, restricted diet and exercise. the scale keeps going up and down, but today, it’s down! yes! i can’t tell you how exciting that is..

i love to eat though.. and i can’t eat a lot of fruit, even eating one orange or apple, let’s just say i end up on the toilet, a lot, and its not pretty. so i take a lot of vitamins. and i cant stand any greens/salad, so its not like i can do that, i just have to cut out/down what i’m eating.

gee if i could eat cake.. .what would that be like.. or fast food, fast food makes me run to the toilet so fast i wouldnt even be able to make it out of the restaurant. you are lucky being able to eat that stuff.

my downfall? candy. candy goes well with everything… seriously.. love me the candy… so i dont buy it much… or only when my hubby says he wants some, i’ll get him a huge thing of candy that i wont eat and me a little bit… if its here and i like it, i have no willpower…

so i feel you. i really do. i just have a weaker digestive system, so i dont have quite as many temptations…

if you were looking for suggestions? which is sounds like you are? switch to diet soda. the first 2 weeks are a bitch. after that. it goes down smooth. really. it does. if you are a heavy soda drinker i guarantee you will lose weight by switching to diet soda. way back when i lost 10 pounds by switching to diet.. i did it for my dental work, not to lose weight, but it worked.

last year? i cut out caffeine. also a bitch. 2 days tops and i was a-ok. i think i’m a master of self-deprivation though. (mistress just sounded kinky) — hey are you smiling at all here?

feel better, and while you’re at it, teach me how to cook chinese food? the light way?

Oh yeah, I can sympathize. I can’t even keep junk food in the house, because if it’s here, I’ll eat it.

If I may suggest it… sometimes (not always) I brush my teeth right before going to the store. For some reason, that makes junk food a lot less appealing, and I’m less likely to buy it.

I say screw it!! :P I’m glad that you are feeling better, and that you reached your goal for weight loss for Jan. 08. I would LOVE to loose some weight… actually not even some… a LOT!! But screw it. I LOVE to eat… and people think that I’m chunky and have a few extra layers of “padding” because I have three kids… little do they know! Ha!! Oh well I’ll take it though. I have tried to be good… well only for like two days at a time, with eating but I did go to the gym for a few months, like 4 or so, and I didn’t notice a differance then, so I gave it up… now I see that I was loosing weight or toning or something… b/c now I’m even chunkier then before I went. OH WELL. Yes, I have three kids and twins at that… so that is why I’m a chunker… not b/c I sit on my butt a lot and don’t “work out” that often, and eat whatever I can find… literally!!! Noooo… that has nothing to do with it. lol
I think that you probably look GREAT… just that we are always harder on ourselves then we really need to be!
Congrats on the 5lbs, but most important, Congrats on feeling better!!
    Hugs, Jenn
