If I sang, will this be over?
If one more person asks me if I am still pregnant…
I’m going to cry.
Or polish off a quart of Breyers mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Every time I’m asked.
Anyway, the past couple of days have been a bit rough.
I went from having contractions every 10-15 minutes, to every 5 minutes. Many of them quite strong and painful. This has happened everyday since Friday, lasting for a few hours on and off.
By the end of each day I feel like I’ve run a marathon because of the constant contractions and breathlessness.
This is definitely not how things unfolded with Babisodes four years ago. With her, I had mild contractions for a few days, my water broke, and once I couldn’t bear the pain any longer, we swung by Panda Express on the way to the hospital so I could grab a bite to eat (since I knew they wouldn’t feed me until after she was born).
This time around, my body wants me to suffer.
I finally called my doctor today to get myself checked out, and I am a whopping two centimeters dilated.
If you are unfamiliar with the stages of labor, 2 cm’s is not a big deal. At least not for the activity that I’ve had recently. Most hospitals admit woman when they are about 4 cm’s or if their water has broken. A baby is delivered at 10 cm’s.
By this time during my last pregnancy, I had already been 3 cm’s for over a week (with little to no pain), and it took another week and a half before my daughter was born.
If this kid wants to cook inside for another week or so, fine.
But enough with the bluffing already.
37.5 weeks
OH.. Poor Sandy!!! UGH.

k, here is the perfect solution and the doing of it is nice too.
My sister had a full body massage and went from nada to nine in a few hours. My wife went into labor about 12 hours after she had one as well.
So have Dadisodes spring for an in house massage and pack your bags

Aww honey, sounds like you’re going through the hell that is sloooow labour. I had it with Max for almost 5 weeks. Good news is that when he was induced, the second my waters broke i went properly into labour and had him within 3 hours!

Not one of mine decided to come out on their own. Since we still don’t know what actually starts labor, we don’t know why.

Do you know what’s awesome? Dreyers Girl Scout ice cream. The Tagalong (chocolate peanut butter cookies in case it’s a different name on the East Coast) is ridiculously good. Ok it’s not going to make up for all the lame false labor you’ve been having but…
I had a ton of Braxton Hicks last week and this week, not so much. Somehow I’m at 2cm with nothing much going on. I told my doctor I’m sure I’d see her next week at our normal appt. I have a feeling this one is sticking for the long haul too.

Whoever your doctor is that can do over the phone dilation checks…I totally want in on that action.
It would seem that logically that couldn’t happen, since I live in Birmingham and you live in Boston. But if he can do over the phone dilation, maybe he can do over the phone delivery too?
It’s that long pap smear stick that would be the worst, though.
I hope she decides to come soon! I remember waking up EVERY MORNING prayyyyying that Ali would be born that day. Those last few weeks seem like decades….

Yikes! That really stinks, although I am glad the baby is cooking longer. Prolonged labor can’t be fun. (I never actually went into labor with any of my babies, so I wouldn’t know a labor pain if it smacked me in the mouth.)

As a not yet pregnant girl, I can only think of mom’s stories of her making my father drive her around on bumpy roads to try and get my sister out. I don’t think it worked, but it made for fun dinner table conversations.
