Inner piece of mind
I think my brain is fried.
My guess is the lack of glucose in my diet is finally getting to me.
Neurons don’t fire as readily sans carbohydrates.
In the past few days I cannot count the number of times I started to do something, turned around, and completely forgot what the heck I was doing.
I opened the refrigerator at least 40 times last night while making dinner. All I needed was celery and carrots.
But thankfully, there appears to be some light at the end of this foggy tunnel.
My doctor called with the results of my second glucose tolerance test.
I passed.
Sweet Entenmann’s, hallelujah!
I specifically asked for my result values from each hour, and immediately researched their normal ranges.
I did pretty well,…but my two hour result was a little close to the cut off. Just a little.
So I will continue to be a bit cautious with what I eat, and avoid consuming a whole cake or pie in one sitting. Believe me, it has been done.
But for now, my body is breathing a heavy sigh of relief.
I was honestly bracing myself for a diabetic consult, even practicing a pitiful “I’m starving” look for the dietitian.
So on behalf of the great news, I baked a batch of brownies for me Babisodes and her friends for their playdate.
Before divvying up the brownie squares, I made sure to set aside a celebratory piece for myself.
I’m partial to the gooey center.
However, this recent diabetic scare may have sent me to the edge.
I’ll never tell.
That photo is perfect! Good news about your glucose test. Fingers crossed that the numbers stay where they should from here out.

I to sometimes forget what I was doing as I am doing what ever it is I forgot, so I just think to my self, ok now just sit down and back track my steps and pretty soon I cant remember if I was sitting down to stand up or standing up to sit down.

SO GLAD YOU PASSED!!!!
I hated the GD diet. I had gained 18 lbs at 28 weeks, lost 7 lbs between 28 weeks and 41 weeks. Two days after I had my daughter I weighed 10 lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight. Which all sounds good, but I was entirely too thin. Add in breastfeeding. Not pretty or fun.

GD is a pain in the rear. With Baby #2, I failed my three hour test with two abnormal numberes. With Baby #3, I failed with all four numbers WAY too high:( And diet controlled wasn’t enough, and glyburide messed me up, so I had to have insulin.
But happy chubby babies are sooooo worth it:)

When I was diagnosed with insulin-resistance/PCOS, I cried for a solid week about giving up my sweets and regular sodas. Oh, I was pitiful. Now? Eight years later? I can sit and watch my friends scarf birthday cake and it doesn’t bother me that my plate is empty.

Ps: we eat the same piece of the brownies! Whenever I eat brownies (which is rare because I can’t have chocolate) I ALWAYS eat the center!

I LOVE the center piece…even better is mix the batter up, put in oven about 7-9 minutes…then open the oven and scoop out the batter over and over. It’s still liquid but at the point it starts getting some consistancy and sooooo good.
Now I have to make brownies…

YUM! Cut me a slice would ya? I’m partial to the crispy edges.
Thankfully, I haven’t had to suffer through gestational diabetes, BUT, I have had several episodes of mommy brain. As soon as the pee stick turns to a plus sign, I lose a few brain cells. It’s like I pee my brains out onto the stick or something. The brain lapses have been worse with baby #3. Wonderful.

Oh I so understand! I had gestational diabetes with my daughter, but with my son I passed. They say you have a higher risk with girls. When I passed I immediately said “it’s a boy” and was right. Watching the carbs when pregnant is tough! Congratulations on passing!

I”m not sure what’s better, your posts, or your pictures, especially of the yummy treats! I had the BEST time making your cinamon rolls with my two year old yesterday, she was just beside herself she was so excited to be baking! Glad the results turned out in your favor.
I remember drinking that syrupy stuff too and sitting there waiting in the lab until I could do the blood draw. Luckily I never had any problems with that all mine turned out to be preeclampsia related later.

They discovered my diabetes when pregnant with my son. I know your concern…and the celebratory brownie. They thought it was just gestational diabetes, so on my way home from the hospital I had a milkshake.
