Just In Case You Didn’t Spend Enough Time In Front of the Computer

The final days of October are upon us.  Although this week may present its share of costume debacles and battles for remaining bags of Snack Size candy (all which will promptly become 75% off on Nov 1st), there are some other scary events around the blogosphere to consider before Halloween.

NaBloPoMoBadgeAre you a blog addict?  Are you incapable of sipping your first cup of coffee before checking your Reader?  Do people in your life live with the realization that all embarrassing moments and dialogue are fair game for blog fodder?

Then NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) is the perfect event for you.  Whether you’re new to the blogosphere seeking blogs to read, or looking to strengthen you blogging regimen, NaBloPoMo’s challenge to blog everyday for 30 days is a wonderful arena to do so.

I launched Momisodes a little over a year ago, just before NaBloPoMo, and taking up the 30-day blogging challenge not only helped to increase my readership and blogging stamina, but I also formed some of my strongest blog friendships through the event.

So how about it?  Will you be joining NaBloPoMo this November?

I’m doin it. Care to join me?  I’m still participating in Blog365, so I have no reason not to join NaBlo-Psycho-Mo.

And for those with the ultimate stamina and penchant for lengthy prose, there is also NaNoWriMoNaNoWriMoBadge (National Novel Writing Month) this November.  It’s the ultimate cram session for novel writing where members write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.  However, the focus is quantity versus quality, forcing writers to do more free writing rather than focusing on editing or crumpling up original ideas and tossing them.

Well, are you finally going to write your story?

I am.

Well, I’m going to try.  Even if you have no idea where the commas, apostrophes, and periods are supposed to go.

p.s. Check out some Ghost Stories (mine included) over at Daddy Dan.

Wow! That is indeed an event for blog addicts. Too bad I don’t have the stamina. He he! Good luck on that!

Awesome! I haven’t thought about whether or not I’ll give it a shot but hey…why not?
Good luck (not that you’ll need it!)

Oh, I’m going for it for sure. Both. Even though the kids have a grand total of seven school days off in November. Not to mention 10 weekend days. Which leaves me 13 days of actual “peace” to write 50,000 words. Yikes!

patois’s last blog post..The Death of Television

  4. Evelyn LimNo Gravatar

NaBloPoMo sounds interesting but I don’t think I’d have the stamina for it!! Thanks for introducing it!

That’s a lot of writing. I would love to do it but I know I won’t be able to…Good Luck to you!

So … you’re going to do BOTH NaBloPoMo and NaNoWriMo??? Can a single post qualify for both at the same time? Methinks I’ll do NaBloPoMo again because (like you) I’m doing Blog 365 ‘as is’ and intend to post daily at Small Reflections as I’ve done since the beginning. I’m not going to do it on both blogs this year however like I did last year.
    Hugs and blessings,

Just trying to keep up with two blogs are enough for me.besides I still do not manange to post daily.I do not feel that creative, and I still want time to visit all my blogging friends that I do have.

ceemee- It definitely is a challenge, but it’s really for anyone who wants to try. It’s a great time :)

Missy Wiggins- You should definitely join in! :)

Patois- WOOHOO! I’m glad I’m not the only one cramming it in b/w madness.

Evelyn and Chris- aww, you never know :)

Storyteller- I don’t think it does. Both events are not affiliated. however, if your blog post is part of a greater story piece, you can add it to your over all Nanowrimo project. I’m pretty sure you do not have to submit writing everyday for Nanowritmo. It’s more about submitting the requirements by the end of the month.

Mike- I hear you. It really is tough managing 2 blogs. I don’t know if I could do that.

I met you during NaBloPoMo last year! Yeah! I’m still not sure if I’m doing it this year or not. Hmmmm.

NaBloPoMo is what got me hooked good on this stuff. It’s where I met you. And it just naturally led into blog365. I cannot, in all good conscience, given the workload, etc., take on more than I already have. NaBloPoMo, perhaps, but I’m already working on a novel and I don’t think i want to try to force it out over the 30 days of November. But you go girl. And I am REALLY anxious to see what you do – because I think I know what you’re capable of, and you will be, as always, amazing.

I think I can do the 30 posts in 30 days. I practically do that now. The novel… I think that is out of my grasp of reality right now. I’m in for the NaBloPoMo.

Wow, I hadn’t even thought about the fact that NaNoBloMo starts this saturday… I mean I realised it was close but jeez!

I will attempt it again this year – after all, it was reading someone’s blog who participated in it last year that started me off with the blogging. :)

Marylin’s last blog post..There’s something I have to tell you.

  21. Holly at Tropic of MomNo Gravatar

Wow, good for you! I did NaNoWriMo a few years ago (B.C.) and NaBloPoMo last year at another blog. I will certainly think about it….

  22. PatsyNo Gravatar

I’ve already signed up for NaBloPoMo. I had not heard of NaNoWriMo. Hummm I could give that a try but I hate being a failure and I think that might sink my ship. I have a couple of days to consider it. And a ghost story — I do have a real one of those to share — well actually it is my hubby’s but since he won’t share I can. You were full of info today. Thanks.

Thanks so much everyone for your input. I’m delighted to see some of you already signed up for the events!

Feel free to add me at NaBloPoMo if you like.

P.S. I’m not 100% sure if NaNoWriMo is a feasible goal right now either. Actually Dadisodes doesn’t even know yet.

Uh…HEY HONEY, SURPRISE! I may be a bit busy next month ;)

  25. LanaNo Gravatar

Ok.. I signed up for the NabloPoMo… But I have a question. Do we just post on our “regular” blogs, or do we have to post to the Nablopomo ning site too..?

Woo. I already wrote 553 words — that weird thing about the woman who wanted to crash the plane…Only 49,447 words to go. (Unless my math is wrong. I am not always the math genius.).

I am trying to write every day again, but it’s much easier to post a couple photos that actually write a thousand words I am willing to loose on the world.

Yay!! Another NaNo! I’ll definitely be doing NaNoWriMo (Fourth year and will win for the fourth time *grin*) and I can’t wait to get started. I’m working on a tentative outline now.

I not only blog everyday, I post twice a day. It’s truly a sickness for me. But I’m the sort of person who just SPEWS words so … it’s all good.

    Good luck with the challenge!

I will be participating in NaBloPoMo!

I tried NaNoWriMo last year; got about halfway and then fell off the bandwagon. Hopefully next year I’ll have the time to actually finish! But for this year; the blog edition is enough for me I thinkl.

I enjoyed Nablopomo alot last year, and met some of my finest friends there (like you for instance). It was alive, much more alive than 365, there were groups being formed, discussions, it was a real meeting place.
But I don’t think this year would be the same?
On the other hand … It’s tempting!
