[Post Title]… too tired

The dog days of summer are finally here. It’s 95 degrees and humid, and on these hazy days all I want to do is lay my naked body along a stretch of porcelain tile. But I can’t.  Mainly for 2 reasons:

1) We don’t have tile flooring.

2) We have a house full of visitors.

For some strange reason, every person visiting the city of Boston during August has decided to seek accommodations at my house- Casa de tired-as-hell-pregnant-Momisodes.

Some of the visitors are my family members and others are not. Therefore, some know that I’m pregnant, and some do not.  We hope to tell more people once we move past thirteen weeks.

Which is making hiding this pouchy, I ate-a-few-too-many-brownies belly, all the more fun.

Although I am fortunate enough to not be puking my brains out during this first trimester, my body is making up for it in the form of extreme exhaustion.

I look like I could have serious OxyContin issues.  My level of consciousness can only maintain its integrity in 4 to 5-hour increments.  Then I hit the wall.

So I am going to cut myself some slack and take a little break from posting.  Just for a few days.

But I am still here making my rounds to your blogs, and reading all of your wonderful comments that make me smile (and feel less whale-ish).

I may be a little slower though. Because these cute little Mac keys on my laptop aren’t so pretty indented on the side of my face.

Would it be wrong if I told my visitors I have mono?

Wow – how can you keep it a secret while blogging about it? Are you one of those mysterious bloggers that keeps your family and friends in the dark about your blog?

    That’s amazing….

I hope you get your energy back and are able to perform all of your hospitable duties…or that your visitors are afraid to get Mono and leave early. :)

  2. jameilNo Gravatar

lol @ mono. and this too shall pass! there was actually an article in the NYT last week about how everyone gets house guests in august. i guess people are trying to squeeze the last bit of fun out of summer. i just hope you don’t have the horror stories of these people! 95 is so gross. 86 here but feels like 95. i’m shocked the humidity is only at 70%.

  3. CCNo Gravatar

Mono sucks. Feel better. In a few months. ;) ;) ;) Hee hee.

  4. AsianmommyNo Gravatar

    Hope you feel better soon!

  5. The MotherNo Gravatar

And now I’M stripping wallpaper while you stretch out on your back. NOT fair.

  6. Coal Miner's GranddaughterNo Gravatar

Tell them you didn’t get enough sleep the night before because you and the husband were… well, you know. And let them come to their own conclusions! :)

Get some rest, hon! We’ll be here when you get back.

  7. SarahHub @ Oakbriar FarmNo Gravatar

Remember a couple weeks ago when you kept taking those pregnancy tests? Well, here’s your sign!

Hope you’re feeling more awake soon!

Just tell your guests the heat wears you out… Or that you have mono – that’s a sure way to get the house to yourself again!

    Have fun on your mini-break!

  8. bluevioletNo Gravatar

The baby growing business is exhausting and you deserve to sleep as much as you need!

  9. PunaNo Gravatar

Take advantage of your visitors and have them wait on you!

  10. Maggie`s MindNo Gravatar

I vote for mono. Or just cough and sneeze and maybe even fart a lot. ;)

Get your rest. We`ll be here, in your virtual bloggy living room, not your real one, when you get back.

  11. Jen of a2eatwriteNo Gravatar

Absolutely – you have mono AND the plague, so they should hit the road to the nearest motel and they can wave at you from outside the windows. And then. Take a long nap. And a cool bath. And put Sponge Bob or something on the boob tube for Babisodes.

  12. Cassandra RaeNo Gravatar

Oh…I’m sending you some of my energy now…energy to tell your guests that you simply aren’t up for entertaining. No reason required. You’d like to be your normal energetic self and you just aren’t. They’ll understand.

  13. Tara R.No Gravatar

Take a day, or week, or month easy. Take care of you and the itty, bitty Babisode, and big sis Babisode. Get some rest.

  14. CaraNo Gravatar

Oh, how I remember the first trimester tiredness. No fun when trying to handle tons of houseguests! Don’t try to do too much, they may not understand now, but they will.

  15. Amy @ The Q FamilyNo Gravatar

Take it easy. I hope you feel better soon.

I will say just blame it on the weather. The heat will make you feel tired naturally. :)

  16. EmilyNo Gravatar

I hear ya, g. I was so freaking exhausted with my last pregnancy that it was all I could do to keep my other children fed and clothed. Hope it passes soon.

  17. lceelNo Gravatar

Actually, in order not to lie, (because I KNOW you don’t lie) you could tell your visitors you have Duo, which is twice as bad as Mono. And it lasts longer.

  18. Muthering HeightsNo Gravatar

I hope you are able to get some rest with all those visitors around!

  19. Lisa @ Boondock RamblingsNo Gravatar

You don’t have to tell them anything. Just tell them you are tired. Period. They can make their own assumptions? Right.

Yeah, maybe not. By next week you may have cancer rather than being pregnant. Oh dear. Maybe you’d better not let them make up their own minds!

  20. Felicia - I Complete MeNo Gravatar

I so know how you feel. With my pregnancy I was fortunate to not have morning sickness, but boy was I tired. I used to have to take two or three 15 minute naps at work just to get through the day. Get some rest, you know we’ll be here when you are up to writing. I know I will.

  21. JacNo Gravatar

I know EXACTLY how you’re feeling. I hid my pregnancy from everyone but our parents until I was past 17 weeks… (In a previous pregnancy I’d miscarried at 16 weeks so I didn’t want to risk the devastation of explaining again) I had to get through Christmas before I told, which included seeing ALL of my family and friends who didn’t know…

  22. Chronicles of MomniaNo Gravatar

oh BOY do i remember that first trimester…rest and lots of water for mama! take care and take ‘er easy!

  23. NicoleNo Gravatar

Just sleep and tell them to go make whatever they want themselves ;)

  24. Walking In My SleepNo Gravatar

I so remember that exhaustion. No words can describe it. I used to sit down on the sofa and actually has to talk to myself and explain why I needed to get back up. People have a way of entertaining themselves. You live in Boston. Give them a map and send them on their way!

  25. nancy@ifevolutionworks.comNo Gravatar

Feel better!!!!!!!!!!!! And do your best to stay cool. It’s a sauna here too!

  26. perpstuNo Gravatar

Oy. I hope your visitors go away and you feel better soon!

  27. Mama in SuburbiaNo Gravatar

No morning sickness is a big plus!!! Maybe you can have your visitors cook and clean for you :)

  28. DotNo Gravatar

Naps, my dear Momisodes, naps! Tell your visitors you’re tired. It’s okay to be tired.

  29. JennersNo Gravatar

Take a break!!! I remember how I felt in my first trimester. I’d come home and fall asleep at the dinner table at 5:30 am.

  30. CookieNo Gravatar

You mean that all of your visitors don’t read your blog?! How is that possible???! ;)

  31. Joyce-AnneNo Gravatar

You know I was thinking about taking a trip to Boston just to finally meet you …. LOL

Take the time, get the rest NOW. Your body is adjusting to “baking” Babisodes 2.0. Besides once 2.0 arrives, there will be no rest for the weary.

  32. AshleyNo Gravatar

You could tell them you MIGHT have mono. Without the sore throat…or any other symptom besides tiredness! Ha. And, I must say… I’d SO rather have the tiredness than the hyperemesis gravidum (sp?)…because that just felt like I was, oh you know…DYING! Go rest!

  33. AliciaNo Gravatar

Well, I’m sure when you do tell them, they will think back and realize why you were so tired and overate!! LOL

  34. Nap WardenNo Gravatar

OMG…I know the feeling. MIL showed up and stayed for a week, with no heads up!

    Go home people!

  35. Debbie@Like a RoseNo Gravatar

Love the name of your Bed & Breakfast. LOL

Get some rest and we’ll wait to hear from you once you can keep your face off the keyboard.

  36. Down PillowNo Gravatar

You would have rocked those hammer pants for MC, lol.

  37. CarlenNo Gravatar

    Oh noooo!
I hope you get back into the swing of baby things soon, my tired friend!
I say you just come out and tell everyone, then go back to bed and have them all waiting on you…I’d love that myself, lol :o )
    Have a great wknd!
    Carlen

  38. GennyNo Gravatar

Hope you get some rest, Sandy. And if I haven’t told you already, congratulations on being pregnant. I’m really happy for you, even if those first few months are tough. Hope the tiredness isn’t too bad!

  39. the planet of janetNo Gravatar

    zzzzzzzzzzz …

i feel this way and i don’t have the excuse you do!! ;-)

  40. SarahNo Gravatar

LOL!! I would SO tell them I had mono. Just to see the look on their faces and watch them wiping the rims of their glasses.

But it’s totally understandable!! Pregnancy is exhausting! You deserve the break…I just got off one myself – but that was for death (mine) not life *giggle*

  41. Jenjen@GottaLoveMOmNo Gravatar

Just tell them you’re really tired..
    Get some rest….

  42. savvymodeNo Gravatar

OMG congrat. where have i been…. take care and take lots of naps.

  43. J maddenNo Gravatar

How about “Swine Flu” that will get them running quick.

  44. Secret Mom ThoughtsNo Gravatar

I think mono is a great excuse. Get some rest.

  45. sheilaNo Gravatar

I’d go to a hotel if I were you, lol.
One with tile floors, ha ha

  46. PatsyNo Gravatar

Pregnant daughter seems to be having the same problem, and she has started back to school in a new position in a new school. She said she has found very quickly who NOT to tell things to if you don’t want the entire school to know. She had also planned to keep the baby under wraps for a few more weeks but had to tell a couple of people at the school — now the entire faculty knows.

I hope your energy level comes back up soon. I think I had that problem only for about the first 12 weeks or so and then felt great from then on. Rest as much as you can — you know the drill and it doesn’t get any easier with two.

  47. Chronicles of MomniaNo Gravatar

when you get a little energy…check out something i left for you on my blog…

  48. Karen MEGNo Gravatar

The mono trick sounds like a great strategy, actually :) .

Seriously, though, hope you’re not doing too much, take it easy, ‘kay?

  49. Rebecca (Ramblings by Reba)No Gravatar

I can’t believe that *we* know and that many of your in-real-life peeps don’t. I’m not knocking it. I’m honored. :)

  50. Maria@Conversations with MomsNo Gravatar

Take the rest you need and deserve. I remember the feeling of being so exhausted, your eyeballs hurt.

The first trimester is rough while your body gets used to all the hormones. If your family members support the excuse you come up with, there shouldn’t be a problem.

  51. GrandyNo Gravatar

Tell them it’s the Pig Flu, and go get some rest. Having read your more recent post first…I know you need the rest and the healing. ;)

  52. Holly at Tropic of MomNo Gravatar

Oh, the pregnancy fatigue. And you have house guests! Gah! Hope you can take the time to take care of you.
