Hope4Anissa

I had the pleasure of meeting an incredibly talented blogger just a few weeks ago.  Over the past year I have come to love her and her family through her words on her blog and at Aiming Low.

In the moments before we met in Boston, she stood undaunted before a room full of bloggers and said, “I am never good at things like this [speaking in front of an audience].  This is why we sit behind computers and blog, right?”

It was then that I knew that she was every bit as hilarious and real as I imagined she would be.

She is Anissa Mayhew.

Someone I admire and who I wished lived closer.

Because I know she would be the most awesome neighbor, and my happa daughter would swoon over her happa son, and perhaps he could help me convince her that pedaling backwards on a bike doesn’t make you go faster.

But today, I wish I were closer to my friend Anissa more than anything because she is in the ICU after suffering a massive stroke.  As of this afternoon, she is still unconscious and unresponsive. My heart goes out to her and her family, and I am hopeful that her proven strength, courage, and humor will pull her through this tough time.  Something her and her family are no strangers to.

So please keep Anissa and the Mayhew family in your thoughts.

Here is a direct link to how you can help.

I was completely shocked when I saw this yesterday. What’s keeping the hope alive for me is my friend Kim who suffered a stroke seven years ago and is completely recovered. Anissa has youth and fire on her side.

Great post, hon, and beautiful picture of all of you.
