Read It FIRST!
Life is a bit crappy right now. Crap with a capital S.HIT.
It’s snowing all the time, it’s so cold I can only feel my toes about 30% of the time, hubby is working 14-hours a day, and I’m preparing for our move, blogging, working online, and holding up the fort with a toddler at home by myself every. single. day. Funny how the drug and alcohol epidemic seems much clearer to me now.
Here’s how I greeted hubby when he walked through the door last night:
Me- *runs over to give a big hug and starts crying*
Hubby- What’s wrong? Are you alright?
Me- I don’t know. Something’s going on. I think I’m pregnant.
Hubby- Uh….err….um…..uh, okay. What makes you think you’re pregnant? Are you late?
Me- No…*sniff*… but I just cried while watching an episode of The Facts Of Life!!!
Yes, I’m pathetic. No, I’m not usually like this (nor do I usually watch The Facts of Life), but I just don’t feel right. If I didn’t have a toddler that would run for kitchen knives or unlock the front door and walk outside and hitchhike her way out of town while unattended, I could honestly sleep all day. I’m exhausted. Yet I still find the strength to heifer myself to the kitchen for food every 15 minutes. This is precisely what my first trimester was like while pregnant with my daughter (minus the constant urge to barf).
As I forced myself out of bed this morning, I knew exactly what I needed to do. The first urine of the day is the most accurate for pregnancy tests, so I had to do it. The trick was holding my bladder until I got the damn thing out of it’s package! It amazes me how much harder it is to hold it for those extra 45 seconds. I ripped open the brand new box of generic Target brand pregnancy tests, removed 1 individually wrapped test (of course it’s sealed tighter than vacuum pack of beef), and did my best to not pee all over myself and the floor. Immediately the lines on the stick fill *heart races* and I scream through quivering lips (and not in a good way), “HOLY $#!@! There’s 2 lines! There’s 2 lines!”
Hubby outside the door says in a soft, broken voice, “uh, …Sandy… what does that mean?”
Note to self: READ THE FREAKING DIRECTIONS FIRST before peeing on the stick!!!
Thank GAWD! I was just thinking that I totally missed out on the process if it were positive.

Oh well, if at first don’t succeed, try and try again… Think of all those good side effects!

LOL, I’m glad, no toddler, no move and not pregnant here
But I feel your pain.
I can only imagine how it is trying to organize a move when a bored toddler is around, hubby works for 14 hours and you feel like shit.
I could crawl under the blankets and stay there all day as well.
Oh well
Spring will come, I know it
!
And it must be better than the last few weeks!

Gawd. Why do pregnancy test have to be so damn complicated?! I never knew what I was looking at either when I did them.
Perhaps you have a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder? I know I do. Winters not spent on the slopes since I’ve had my twins are brutal on my emotions. Once spring hits, I’m all good again. Then summer and I’m bouncing off the walls.

I was about to congratulate and send some pickles and sour plums over. Geez. Don’t pull that stunt again unless it’s for real OK?
I’m glad you don’t have to endure moving while puking.
I think you have cabin fever. Yep, definitely cabin fever. The only cure? I’m sorry to say is a trip way way the heck further south where it’s warmer. Or wait another 5 months until summer.

Congratulations and a big sigh of relief on your non expecting status.
We’re pleased to announce that no plus sign means your uterus is currently accepting applications from qualified sperm. Please be sure that if you are not in the position to be able to give these qualified sperm a home for the next nine months you need to be sure to turn off the vacancy sign and ensure that the entrance is blocked.
Thank you, and have a nice day.

Seriously, I looked like I was watching a real suspensful movie and then “WHAM-O” the much anticipated part jumps out at you!
I can say this though, I don’t know if I was saying “Yes…Yes…be positive” or “No, NO…Not YET”.
I cried after watching an episode of “Full House” the other day! And yes…I do indeed watch Full House! Anyway, I know I’m not prego as I don’t have the parts anymore however the lack of hormones could have been a factor!!!
Sorry you’ve been stressed though! Things will be normal again soon!

And that test? That’s the kind of test that makes everybody pee on it ten times before they believe it. WHAT on earth is the purpose of a line showing up on that side at all? Why not just have no line LIKE EVERY OTHER TEST if it’s negative? None of this fancy schmanzy stuff, just yes or no please.
By the way – I cry during commercials sometimes, and there’s a snowballs chance in heck that I’m pregnant.

I was so emotional–strangely so, last week, that my hubby asked if “it” was possible. I told him that NO. NO. And, NO. But I still used the “I’m hormonal.” That excuse may start to wear thin after awhile.
Oh, and to Amy’s point–I think I cry at everything now as well. I NEVER used to cry!!!

Oh. My. Heck…. Your first line reminded me of my first reaction after a pregnancy test revealed I was pregnant with my third. Seriously… all that my mind could hold was “ShitShitShitShitShitShitShit…” It was my third pregnancy and I didn’t figure it out until I was almost through the first semester – yeah – big surprise… Anywho. So, I read your story with great anticipation and felt great relief for you (because it appears not being pregnant was the answer you were hoping for…) – AFTER I read the directions – they should standardize those things!
I should add that when I told one of my best friends about my 3rd- she knew my how already frazzled I was with my other two… Oh, and the tears of fear may have communicated something to her… Anyway, she said the best thing, “Oh honey… I’ll congratulate you in a week.”
May the snow melt soon – so your your toes get warm. It’s amazing how warm toes can change the world

Well, what can I say? Would you feel better if I told you we’re having a blizzard, most of the roads are closed, cars and trucks slid off all over e states, and they had to send some school kids home early ’cause they were afraid the roads would drift full and everyone be stuck at school all night? No? Listening to someone else’s misery doesn’t cheer you up? I hope at least I didn’t make you cry again. Maybe if I stop fixing my typos I can bring you a laugh. Look on the bright side – uh, is there a bright side? Oh, yeah! Turn on all the lights in the house – that will make it bright. Have a better day. I feel your pain. hey there.
I think you just may have a case of Winter Blues!! This weather is sucky for sure!! I just saw that Boston got hit with snow yesterday or the day before… YUCK!! I was thinking of you guys. We missed it here, too bad you didn’t too!! I CANNOT wait till Spring! I’m having major cabin fever!! I could cry too, but then it would ruin my tough girl/bitch reputation! uh! can’t win!!
I think that reading is more like a maybe/possibly/not sure than anything though. WTH?? What kind of markings are those?? duh!!
I totally get the tired/dead feeling and the missing the hubby thing too! I hate those long work weeks/months/years. Bryan does a lot of on-call work and also does some side jobs and also has a pretty healthy social life! UH!!! It is hard to be home ALL THE TIME and all the time while trying to pack… and all the time with a doggy and most of all, ALL THE TIME with a TODDLER. I know you love her and she is sweet, but sometimes it totally sucks being the only parent around.
Although I know you aren’t sure if you are wanting a baby #2 or not really that… but when or all of the above… but it is still a little disappointing when you get a negative reading!
Well I hope you feel better soon! I hope you have a really SUNNY and warm, you know like 40’s (lol but seriously that is warm right about now) or higher day tomorrow.
Smile! You will have plenty to distact you from the crappy weather soon as you get in your new home!!:) How many days till the move???
Sending lots of sunshine and hugs!!!

And no I wasn’t very disappointed. The next month or so is going to a nightmare packing, moving, unpacking, and getting adjusted to our new place….plus, our new mortgage will not afford me to eat like a pregnant woman!!!
