Scroogisodes
Monday, December 22nd, 2008You’ll have to excuse me today. I’m feeling like there are a few pine needles in my side. We had about 18 inches of snowfall over the weekend. I’ve never actually seen this much snow before in my life. Which is cool (sort of), but guess who had the privilege of wielding the golden shovel? If you guessed me, a native Floridian whose only association with shovels is for planting orange trees and…uh….grave circumstances, then you’re right.
Dadisodes and Babisodes were both sick over the weekend, so yours truly braved the cold outdoors. Snow shoveling should seriously be an Olympic sport, because I think the only thing that isn’t sore are my eyebrows. Someone, who shall remain nameless, refuses to buy a snow blower…or a lawn mower…or any kind of tool invented after 1930. Remember what we mow our lawn with?
Another reason for the holiday funk? Dadisodes’ Christmas gift I ordered online may not arrive before Thursday. It’s nothing big. Gifts are really not a big deal this year, especially due to our recent job loss. BUT….it is an awesome gift. Rivaling those I received from Christmas past. You know, like the infamous tire pressure gauge?
Dadisodes will never live that down. But the gift I chose even surpasses the Krazy Glue he received as payback. The completely irrational, “gee, thanks honey” cheap gifts have become a tradition. And after much deliberation and research, my choice this year will blow that tire pressure gauge out of the park. But it probably won’t make it here in time.
*sigh*
Guess he’ll just have to be happy with the socks* wrapped under the tree.
Pray to the Amazon.com Gods the mailman will navigate through our snow-laden streets before Thursday, or that my only Christmas wish will come true and we’ll once again have an income.
* The gift I ordered is way better than the socks. *snicker*
