When it rains, it pours

Babisodes: Mommy… *puts hand on my stomach* Are you pregnant A-G-A-I-N?

Dadisodes: Oh honey. That is not a nice thing to ask.  See, mommy’s belly is smaller than it was when your baby sister was inside, right?

Me*sobs*

Postpartum-Day9

(Postpartum day 9)

I know that not even two weeks have passed since I gave birth, but I don’t remember being this “poochy” after having Babisodes.

My guess is a new insatiable, breast-feeding hunger will be of no help either.

Anyhow, I am finally home. Actually, I have been home from the hospital for several days now. I’ve just been lamenting my departure.  You know?  Clean linens. Hot food and beverages served 3 times a day.  All done for me by the hospital staff.

*sigh*

It’s the closest thing to resort living I’ll ever have.

The baby and I came home just in time for the monsoon that took over New England this week.  Just in time for our basement and roof to drip water.  And just in time for Babisodes to spike a high fever and catch a cold.

The upgrade from one kid to two is already proving to be quite an adventure.

I promise to post something cohesive one day.

Perhaps when my sleep deprived mind can manage to string together a full sentence, or when my boobs don’t turn into leaky faucets at the thought of the baby.

I totally forgot how far breast milk travels.

Same goes for poop.

You’re welcome for not posting pics.

The 2nd baby is definitely worse when it comes to saggy bellies, sorry honey! You still look great of course and hope you are doing well.

I just read your previous post too and she is absolutely gorgeous!!! Congratulations! I bet big sister is so excited too. The transition to two is hard, I won’t lie. But you’ll get the hang of it. Right now, you just gotta rest when you can and don’t even worry about the “poochiness”. The breastfeeding will clear that right up! I swear, I burned an extra 500 calories a day just from breastfeeding. I had no idea my body would react like that. Of course, it’s not exactly like it was before I had kids – but nothing is – am I right? haha :) That’s the trade we make for these beautiful babies. I hope you’re recovering well and that Babisodes is feeling better too. :)

The good news is the stomach is like a balloon and WILL go back to normal after blowing up for Child #2. It’s resilient like that. The bad news—or rather a warning—if you go for #3, all bets are off. My 9yo calls me Jelly Belly now. I’m not exactly rocking the 6 pack and not sure I ever will.

You look fabulous, really. It takes a little longer to get the pooch off each time, but I have no doubt you’ll do it. And, if you don’t? It will be a cute reminder of your sweet girls.

  19. TracyNo Gravatar

I am so happy you posted this. I literally looked 5 months pregnant 2 months after giving birth and could not figure out why every other post partum woman I knew went back to a flat stomach 2 1/2 minutes after giving birth. I wasn’t able to nurse though, and I think that made a big difference in my stomach not going down. You are so freaking tiny and will be back to a skinny mini in no time. Congrats on the new baby!

Oh don’t listen to the naysayers.

I’m 3 months postpartum now and starting to look thin already – about 5 lbs. from my pre-pregnancy weight too. You’ll be skinny minnie again in no time! I am telling you, babies just suck the fat right off our bodies if we just eat halfway decently (especially for someone like you who is thin to begin with).

Yes, even the second time around.

Oh you do sound a wee bit tired. Totally justifiable. ;) If it makes you feel any better my 4 year old did exactly the same thing after his brother was born. I came home from the hospital and he immediately asked if I was pregnant again. I understand that sigh. Nine days after and you look great. I was trying to calculate how long it is reasonable to have that 2nd baby pooch and I think until they are in middle school is quite reasonable (I’m a slacker that way).
