Why moms flock to Costco. It’s not just the free samples.
Well it was nice while it lasted.
We somehow managed to skirt past November without any snow, but December has wasted no time in sprinkling winter on us.
I can’t complain though. This is officially my fourth winter in Massachusetts, and I’m realizing that this is my favorite kind of winter storm, the ones that leave only a few inches of snow behind. I can’t deal with footage.
I am also realizing that first snowfalls really throw me for a loop. Especially this year, being pregnant.
Snowflakes floating gently in the wind act as a white flag. A warning of the final lap before the long, dark days ensue.
When the biting cold reaches down to the bone, and is unrelenting for months.
Makes me want to fill my basement with canned food and toilet paper.
My sister lives in Mass. I miss the snow but I don’t miss the “footage” at all.

It snowed in Houston on Friday. It made me want to bake bread and make stew.
The next day, it was 72 degrees and raining.

Hahaha! So true, storms push home the desire to hoard necessities! I love feet of snow but I understand why people don’t. I love this sort of snow though too, fun and easy. Now the “wintry mix”? Bane of my existence. I hate it. And living in the city, it’s what we usually get when everywhere else has snow

Ughhh, me too! If I never had to leave my house I’d be fine with that. Until of course I couldn’t leave, then I’d be going crazy, lol.
We’re getting some weird storm tonight. High winds, snow, then rain. BLEH. Then I think snow again on Thurs night. I just wanna hunker down and chill in my chair.

I am going to fill my basement with toilet paper and canned goods. This girl is not leaving the house if she can help it. Three days in a row they have tried to call me in to work. I just let the phone ring. Do they think I am nuts? It is nice to be a casual worker. I am loving that. It is minus 30 and windy. Remember that is Celsius! So, that is about minus 22F. It is so cold it hurts. I did not have the car plugged in so it probably would not have started anyway.

We got just a dusting of snow this past weekend, but not even enough to really play in and it was mostly melted by the next day. I love snow. Every morning in the wintertime, I wake up and look out the window optimistic that it will be white when I look out. I guess it helps that these days I don’t *have* to drive in the crap.

It hasn’t snowed here yet, save for some slush that fell from the sky over the weekend but this is the time of the year that fills me with dread. I just know the snow is coming, the icy cold temps and icy winds are on the way and it’s just so dark. The incessant predicting of a cold, snowy winter from the networks and the newspaper isn’t helping either.

Mmmm….snow. Some times I miss living in northern Utah when we would get 8 feet of snow during the winter. Living in Vegas? Not so much. It snowed here yesterday and I wanted to die. Too cold for me, TYVM.

Your backyard looks very similar to ours right now. I hate even that amount of snow. I so want to be in Phoenix this year. I’m cold even in the house, especially when I look out and see the snow. We have had snow, rain, snow and sleet and now, freezing temps. In 48 hours. This is going to be an interesting winter.
And I DO feel sorry for Christine. Saskatchewan is colder than a well digger’s ass in Winter. And Winter for them starts in October and lasts until May. *shudder*
Me? I want a warm woman and a sleeping bag – and I’m happy.

I moved away from the snow 25 years ago and have never looked back. OK, maybe I’ve looked back a few times but only to gaze wistfully at its beauty. Then I shake myself back to reality and remember how cold, slushy, cold, dirty, cold, messy and oh, did I say how COLD it is when it snows. Great picture – but now my wistful moment is over!

I love snow – but you’re right, I can do without the footage. We don’t have a Costco nearby, but BJ’s is comparable – and Princess Nagger will only go on days they’re guaranteed to have the snack table set up.

Ditto to that! I’m a Florida girl through and through. We travel to NC for a week each winter and that’s about all the cold snowy winter I can handle. One week lasts me for a year. So not jealous of you right now as I sit her in a t-shirt and shorts typing this comment.
