Why there is no Halloween candy in our house yet

Dear blog,

Finally, all is right with the world.

My outlandish affair with Chef Boyardee may have come to an end. I sank my teeth into a chewy, undercooked mini ravioli the other day and nearly hurled the dog food-like beef filling back into my bowl.

As a result, me and chocolate are back on. That’s right. We’ve reunited and it’s never tasted so good, especially in the form of cupcakes. And like my fellow pregger blog friend, I’m all about gummy foods too.

Last night I woke up heated and salivating after a dream about gummy bears, gummy worms and Swedish Fish all cohabitating inside one of those Big Top Cupcakes (Have you seen their commercial? It’s an SNL skit waiting to happen). Dadisodes is the only person who can safely dispense Gummy Vites now.

After 4 months, it appears things are finally falling back into place. Now if only someone could nudge Mother Nature back onto the pill or something. I think she’s feeling a little irregular. Because those golf ball size SNOWFLAKES over the weekend were totally not kosher. It’s October! That level of extreme PMS is unacceptable…and I am officially scared.

Oh, and one last thing. This kid inside my belly is screaming for fried rice. Not just any fried rice. We’ve tried three different Chinese take-outs in recent weeks. All disappointing. But last night, I think we found “the one.”

And they deliver.

Hence, no belly shots worth sharing here today. Not after plowing through that box of take-out.

~ Sandy

LOL! I definitely do not miss those cravings! I’m sorry to hear about the horrible end to your love affair with the good Chef. But I’m glad to hear that you’ve gone back to your old Love, Chocolate!!

Love the update, although Chef Boyardee can’t be too happy with the news. Try gummy life savers…they rock!

MMMMMMmmmmmm.. . Fried rice. Now I am hungry! Yum. Do you have to be pregnant to order fried rice at 9:30. Does widowed count?

    KEEP BELIEVING

wow! Your post sure made my mouth water! When I was preggy, I didn’t crave for anything. My hubby sure was lucky! Hope I crave for specific food if I get pregnant again, he he!

Mmm … cupcakes … what were you saying?

Oh yeah, I wanted gummy stuff with my recent pregnancy too. All those gelatinous fruit snacks my son wanted, it was like, one for you, one for me … one for you, two for me….

I totally craved chocolate with my third pregnancy and, oh boy, does she LOVE chocolate. She made up a little song about it, “candy, candy, candy”.

  7. Muthering HeightsNo Gravatar

Hey, I would eat that cupcake from your dream, and I’m not pregnant anymore! LOL!

  8. AliciaNo Gravatar

Oh, yum, fried rice!!!!!!!! That sounds good right now, with some sweet & sour pork!

  9. AmyNo Gravatar

I haven’t really had any cravings, surprisingly enough. I am so glad you were able to find the perfect fried rice. That actually sounds good right now. I think I am going to get some takeout tomorrow. Good luck with the gummies

Ewww to the chef boy ardeee! Those always tasted like dog food to me. Now spaghetti o’s are a different story ;)
We’ve already gone through one bag of halloween candy in my house.

I’m into gummy right now too – but it has to be sour and gummy. Besides that I eat whatever sounds good at the time. Like yesterday I saw a bag of Doritos on a show I was watching and it sounded amazing, so obviously I picked up a bag while at the store today. Thankfully the urge to hurl keeps me from eating until I explode.. but I’ve only got a few weeks left in this 1st trimester.. and I’m hoping I can suppress the urge to binge once the hurl-eys go away..

We demand belly shots! Do you know you’d been talking about Chef Boyardee so much I actually bought a can at the grocery store last week? I was tired of being left out! Lol. Childhood memories. “Last night I woke up heated and salivating after a dream about gummy bears, gummy worms and Swedish Fish all cohabitating inside one of those Big Top Cupcakes” <<< LOLOLOL!!!!!! HILARIOUS!!!!! I seriously guffawed over here! Not only is that commercial an SNL skit waiting to happen, that is scary. Cupcakes are supposed to be small!!! That’s why they’re called cupcakes!! When they’re bigger, guess what they’re called? That’s right, cakes…. I can’t believe someone is selling those things for $20.

  13. jameilNo Gravatar

Hmm… rethinking how “we demand belly shots” sounds…

When I told my grandkids I was going to fix dinner tonight, my grandson said, “Can’t you just order Chinese?” I think we’ve done ‘way too much ordering lately. (I’m really a very good cook.) So tomorrow I’m going to make fried rice for supper. Maybe some sweet and sour, too. The only craving I had while pregnant was for spinach. I’ve never liked spinach before or since, but for a few weeks there it tasted SOOOOOOO good. lol

I craved Swedish Fish and cupcakes when I was pregnant. I never thought to combine them though. Heck I still crave them. I think they will be together soon.

Eat up while you can….it’s won’t be long before your depriving yourself of all things tasty in order to loose all that weight…(yes, even a year or more later, ahem.)

I think breastfeeding is giving me cravings just as much as my pregnancy did. Right now it is Peachy-O’s and M&Ms. Not at the same time, but ALL THE TIME. It is nuts. No wonder I still have 20 pounds to loose. Grrr.

Glad you are feeling well and found the perfect fried rice! :)

I LOVE Bar-B-Q Pork Fried Rice. And #1 Son brings it home about three nights a week – he works in a Chinese Restaurant. He’s the phone man. Seems there’s a language barrier that a lot of the staff there have a problem with.

Fried rice, eh? I must have been one of those odd pregnant women that didn’t suffer cravings. I almost wish I did to have a few more stories to tell. ;) Snow already, still sunny down here.

  20. perpstuNo Gravatar

I’m so glad to hear you and chocolate are giving it another go, you have a fantastic relationship! As for fried rice, I could eat bowls and bowls any time of day or night!

I might have sympathy cravings along with you!

If chocolate and cupcakes are on your list, come back to my blog next month. Iron Cupcake: Milwaukee has a Chocolate Challenge then:-)

I definitely do not miss those cravings! The last time I was prego I craved cucumbers. Do you know how expensive they are in November?

  23. katcarneoNo Gravatar

    Hi Sandy!

Wow. Babisodes 2 is a rice person, too!

It’s snowing already? Weather’s really crazy!

  24. NicoleNo Gravatar

Well, I don’t need to be pregnant to eat those kinds of yummy snacks ;)

  25. sheilaNo Gravatar

When I was prego, no one was allowed to come visit unless they brought me a candy bar. Full sized. lol

And I know…I saw the snow on the east coast and in CO this weekend…amazingly early for the east coast!

Fried rice…Mmmm I use to crave Reese’s pieces with my first pregnancy. I could not get enough. I actually use to dream of them.

Glad to hear things are looking up and that your chocolate love affair can be resumed! Love fried rice!

i couldn’t have described it better myself: “…the dog food-like beef filling”

time to clear out my pantry! :)

You crack me up! Glad to hear that you’re making it to the chipper (albeit ravenous) trimester!

I would have liked to have SEEN your snowflakes, but just once – not all winter long.

I don’t want to brag, but we’ve had beautiful weather here. Really, just gorgeous. We have a big 2nd birthday party planned for this Saturday. Hoping to get the kids outside for most of it. Guess what the weather is supposed to be like? Thaaat’s right. Terrible. Mother nature hates me.

  31. wenNo Gravatar

maybe u can fry ur own fried rice!! :) take care

  32. Mama in SuburbiaNo Gravatar

Yippeee, no more Chef Boyardee. Chocolate is definitely more fun. And I hear you about the fried rice. There’s no good Chinese take-outs by us either. Not sure if you like spicy, but my favorite is kim chee fried rice…gives it a good tang :)

  33. ProntipNo Gravatar

Ahhhh! THE fried rice. The Asian version of comfort food. To this day, DH still treads lightly when we visit a new Asian eatery. Not all fried rice is created equally!

  34. The MotherNo Gravatar

For me, it was Mexican food. Cheese burritos slathered with chili sauce.

    Sans margarita. Sigh.

  35. Coal Miner's GranddaughterNo Gravatar

    Swedish Fish? Yum!

And now? I want one of those Big Top Cupcakes. It’s all your fault!

  36. skiploveyNo Gravatar

Oh man, pork fried rice, yummmmmm. I made Ben get it for me twice last month. So glad for you to be off the Chef Boyardee’s, cuz um, eww. Whatever you do, don’t buy any Salt and Vinegar Pringles. It won’t be your last can, I assure you.
Current fave: aforementioned pringles, tootsie rolls and anything with pumpkin. So weird.

  37. JennersNo Gravatar

So glad to hear you are over your Chef Boyardee cravings and realize that it does … indeed … taste like dog food!

And I saw that Big Top Cupcake thing and thought to myself “I MUST have this.” I love that you can put icing or stuff IN THE MIDDLE! And combine flavors! Seriously, I think it is genius.
