Will Most Likely, Probably, Maybe Aim For…(update)

The midway point for 2008 already passed, right?

Perhaps around, oh…*ahem*… a month ago?

Before any more time in this year escapes me, I figured now would be an opportune time to revisit my list of New Year’s Resolutions to assess my progress.

Allow me to forewarn you. There is nothing “resolute” about me. I am the most indecisive human on Earth. I can barely settle on what food to eat every day. Open a refrigerator door, and I can stand there for hours. Since this is my first year blogging, I wanted to take some sort of accountability for my resolutions. Not just keep a mental note that will most likely fall out quicker than a worn out Post-It note. So I set the bar low this year. Really. low.

My 13 New Years Resolutions That I Will Most Likely, Probably, Maybe, Aim For in 2008
(In no particular order)

*Updates in RED*

1) Lose weight- Maybe 2 pounds, 10 pounds, or somewhere in between. And eating only lettuce from December 25th to the 31st in 2008 to meet my goal is completely acceptable.
- I’ve lost 4 pounds! If I weigh myself in the morning. I really think I’ve lost about 2 pounds though.

2) Workout- *Note- The word “regularly” did not follow.
- Started working out 6-7 weeks ago. “Regularly” is almost in the equation. I try to squeeze it in while Babisodes is in preschool.

3) Travel- to someplace I have never been before. And visiting family cannot be part of the itinerary.
- I am visiting my best friend in NY solo this weekend. She’s not family, and I haven’t seen her new apartment yet. Does that count?

4) Temptation- Resist wanting to change everything in the house we are moving into.
- We’re all moved in now. And I have the worst itch to change everything. I dream about (someone else) knocking down walls and having a basement that doesn’t feel haunted. But not much has changed. All of the walls are still intact, and I still avoid the basement.

5) Make more money- somehow. Legally.
- Big, fat failure on this one. No I have not started my own little drug ring. Actually, I make NO money now. I quit my last job after balancing the work-at-home gig for over 2 years, and I am slowly sifting through Nursing job boards online. I haven’t felt this great about being broke in years.

6) Toddler time- Spend more time with my daughter since this will be her last year before starting pre-school.
-*Sobs* She started preschool 6 weeks ago! Fortunately, she adapted quickly and adores having her own time in school. I’m still adjusting. *sniff* But having her away for those few short hours makes me smile ear-to-ear when I see her run towards me with open arms when picking her up.

7) Socialize- Stop being such a hermit in front of this black hole that is my MacBook, and actually speak to grown ups. In public. Outside.
- Getting better, but there is still much more room for improvement. I have met a few other mothers, and went on my first moms-night out.

8 ) Wear a bathing suit- *Note- No location specified.
-NEGATIVE! Nuh uh. Not even after losing a few pounds and working out. Until full body wet suits in 80 degree weather becomes all the rage, I’m steering clear of the beach.

9) Read more- I will be specific and say books. Yep, pleural. Aiming high on this one.
- Bad. Bad Sandy. I checked out 2 books from the library. Renewed both of them twice. I never made it past chapter 1 in either. What can I say? I would much rather read your blogs.

10) Husband time- Actually interact with my husband while he is home, and not sit side-by-side with our laptops like reigning king and queen geeks of the Internet.
- Had a breakfast date with Dadisodes this morning (hence the late post). Went on 1 real date in the city, and I’ve recently found a sitter that my daughter likes and I trust (worth it’s weight in gold).

11) See a movie- in a theater.
-Does Kung Fu Panda count? My toddler came. But it was in a theater….and we ate popcorn…and our shoes stuck to the floor. That counts right?

12) Baby #2- Come to some type of verdict on “if “and “when”.
- If?- Yes, we’re doin’ it.
- When?- I’ve been rather forthcoming about that too.

No verdict on our efforts this month just yet.

13) If baby #2 is a possibility- go back and cross out #’s 8, 3 and 1 from the list.
- Sah-Weet! A full-body bathing suit and plane tickets are not in the funds anyway.
Off to find some Raisinets and popcorn…for lunch.

Congrats on making some headway on some of your goals!! I can never even remember what my New Year’s Resolutions were… I usually forget all about them by January 3rd or so.

You mean, one can actually revisit New Year’s Resolutions and see if one is sticking to them?? What a good idea! And one I’m afraid to try just in case I mortify myself out of existence. But perhaps a tiny peep? I just won’t tell anyone what I find… okay, thanks for the inspiration!

I don’t make resolutions because I never adhere to them. I do tend to tell myself that every year I will make more money and work out more regularly. I do make more money every year but my expenses also increase every year. Working out? Yeah right!

Love the last one, cancelling out things because of something better and more important is always a plus.

Uhm, you are much, much braver than I am. I am not going back to see how well my resolutions are holding up, because I think it would only depress me. You are doing much better than I am!

    Happy TT!

Baby mama- I think I forgot around then too. I had to force myself to peek back into my archives ;) Good thing I posted.

Mommytime- Do it! Just a peek ;)

Chris- Exit clauses are a must! Even in resolutions ;)
    I
Mark- Thanks so much for those inspiring words.

abunslife- Thank you! I definitely recommend revisiting them. I promise myself every year I’ll adhere to resolutions and never do. I figured I’d give myself some online accountability this time. Even if I fail at some.

Cheri- LOL! I’d much rather be broke than have the overwhelming stress of a not so great job that doesn’t pay. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are really growing on me ;)

I don’t see my comment here … and when I submitted it I was redirected (after a long time) to the Wordpress site to check and download ‘comment luv) … so I’m back to say yet again …

If I’d made such a list, I’d be motivated to do something like this myself today … if I’d made such a list ;–) Congratulations on the progress you’re making … and your honesty in addressing these issues with yourself (in the presence of the rest of us). You go girl!!!

If this is a duplicate, feel free to delete my repetitious redundancy ;–)

I wish you were here so you could hear me laughing – I can’t even type…I can see you standing inf ront of the frig door – for hours and the bathing suit comment. OMGosh, still laughing. “All the rage” is right! I too have this same darned issue.

Thx so much for your glorious comment on my blog this a.m. You are a lovely human being. My man – yes, wonderful story. Some day I’ll post about it. Read The Notebook? That’s us!…except neither of us is dying yet.

    *smoochies*

p.s. come back and take those awards. i had a run in with my HTML code last night and am still not over the shock of almost losing all my comments – from the beginning of time. HENCE, I forgot to mention this important factor: take bling when you leave.

Great job on the resolutions. I don’t make any resolutions because I break them right away, like within a day or two. Anyway, I think #11 counts–it was a full length feature and in a theater. Good luck on 12 and 13. Still hoping and keeping my fingers crossed for you. :-)
