“YES”…Sort of

We are on day #436 of potty training (or at least it seems).

Here is where we currently stand:

1) Training pant use- 2-3 per day

2) Bribes in rotation: Prunes, granola, and outside play

3) Business #2- fully trained since 18 months

4) Business #1- holding pee throughout the night, and periodically in the daytime

Here is the latest progress:

Me: Honey, do you need to go pee-pee?

Babisodes: Noooo!…..

*Deer in the headlights stare*

…..Uh,… YES!!!!

*runs towards bathroom holding crotch*

Me: Okay honey. Hold it while I unbuckle your pants.

Babisodes: Kay mommy, But don’t feel my underwear O-kay???

*looks down at pee filled underwear*

At least she’s saying “Yes” now…

Baby steps, right? It sounds like she is making progress. I dread having to potty train two at once.

That is an adorable photo of her in the sunhat. I think she has the cutest little nose I’ve ever seen.

Abby took forever too. I finally made up a little chart- I put on a star sticker every time she used the potty and took off a star every time she had an accident. I know they say you are not supposed to punish accidents, but one lost star was all it took. I just said sorry, that is the rule and since she is so ridiculously competitive it finally motivated her. That and the fact that she got a car when she filled her chart.

I am so not looking forward to potty training the second one. Maybe I will just wait until she teaches herself.

I miss so many things about when my kids were little… potty training is definitely NOT one of them. Good luck… it does finally end.

oh man. i’m pretty psyched to start after we move next month. even if it’s only for the Business #2, as you called it. I am so tired of being so intimately associated with Isobel’s Business #2 :P

Well, it’s progress. I’d invest in a few pairs of pull on shorts/pants with elastic waists (cheap and cheerful options at Target) and maybe even buy them a size bigger than usual so that they are very easy for her to pull up and down. It made a HUGE difference for my son when he could get his own pants down rather than needing me to undo them. Just a thought…

My daughter just could not be bothered. She was doing the poops pretty well – but who cares about wet panties? Then her grandma bought her big-girl silky panties for her birthday (2). I wouldn’t let her wear them because I didn’t want her peeing on me or anything else. “I promise, mommy, I won’t.” And she never did. Back in training pants she would still occasionally wet, but never in the pretty panties.

Those are days I don’t miss. My niece was so funny… she knew the steps, but not the order, so she’d get that “look”, pull down her pants, try to go tearing to the bathroom, but would trip and fall, and then pee wherever she landed. Fun times. ;-)

are you sure you aren’t blogging about Lauren?? ;)

we are doing pretty good here. knock on wood… and hard!!

Since Sunday no one in our house has worn pull-ups… or diapers of any form… not even me. lol

Brooke is done! She has had ZERO accidents… well except for the time she got up from the dinner table at my parents house and went outside in the grass to pee and peed all over her shorts and undies that were down around her ankles. lol Not sure why she felt the need to go outside instead of in the bathroom…

She has made it through 3 nights without any problems either. :) Yippee!!

Lauren is doing good. She is making it most times to the bathroom, but not always.. today she went #2 all by herself on the potty and only called me when she was all done to help her wipe. :) THIS. IS. A. HUGE. STEP. for us. :) i’m soo happy about it… but it has happened before and it doesn’t by any means it will happen again tomorrow. unfortunatly. She has wet her bed 2 out of the 3 nights, but we are still trying. :) She doesn’t want a pull-up on b/c Brooke doesn’t wear one… so i’m trying to be very understandable about it and just doing a lot of laundry. lol

one day at a time, one step at a time and thank goodness we know they will not be going off to college in diapers. :)

good luck. i’m thinking about you every pair of pee-pee undies I wash. :)

you sister in soiled cloth washing…

What’s always worked for us- and it takes just a few days- is this:

Ask every 5 minutes “Are your panties dry?” If they are, applaud and make a big deal and just GIVE the bribe item (usually one m&m) the next day it’s every 10 minutes, and then further in between until obviously it’s not necessary anymore.

Praise the dry underpants. it works for us.

BTW- your blog is fantastic, I love the way you write, I can’t wait to see more!

All I can say is “don’t worry, she will be potty trained by Kindergarten”…
Parent’s put too much pressure on the kids these days. Relax and let nature take over…

Besides, my daughter’s preschool teacher potty trained her, so there is something to look forward to soon :)
